Software and app updates related to 'audience ratings'

This is CLZ Alwin, with the CLZ News for March 2021.

We just started on our 2nd year with the entire CLZ Team working from their own homes. It feels like the new “normal” by now. Still hoping that we will all be working at our nice office again later this year. Time will tell.

Lots of releases in March, for Connect, the CLZ apps and the Windows software. Here’s what went live this month:

• Connect web-based software:
  • Book Connect: New fields! Translator, Editor, Photographer, web-links, etc…
  • Music/Movie/Comic/Game Connect: New: add website links to your entries
• Windows software:
  • Book Collector: More fields now sync to CLZ Cloud / Book Connect
  • All Windows editions: Various improvements and fixes
• CLZ mobile apps, for iOS and Android:
  • CLZ Movies 6.3: Automatic Audience Ratings from IMDb
  • CLZ Comics 6.4: Keep track of your Pull List
  • CLZ Comics 6.5: Download GoCollect values in other currencies

A great addition to your CLZ Movies app today: Automatic Audience Ratings from IMDb, like the MPAA ratings for US, or the BBFC ratings for UK.

I know, we announced this feature a couple of months ago already, expecting it to be live soon. However, the project turned out to be quite a bit more complex and time-consuming as initially planned. Not only technically, but also in terms of cleaning up duplicate ratings, creating all the rating icons, etc…

But the feature is finally here now. And, after running the Update from Core on my own collection (3100 movies), I must say, it was well worth the wait!

But the feature is finally here now and your Movie Connect web-based software is the first to go live with it. And, after running the Update from Core on my own collection (3100 movies), I must say, it was well worth the wait!

How to get the new Audience Ratings for your movies

First, go the Settings screen (from the menu) and on the top right, under Adding from Core, choose your preferring “Audience Rating Region”. Currently, the following regions are supported:

• United States
• Great Britain
• Canada
• Australia
• New Zealand
• Germany
• Norway
• Switzerland
• Finland
• France
• Netherlands
• Portugal
• Sweden
• Spain
• Italy
• Belgium

Then, use Update from Core to update all movies with the new Audience Ratings. Here’s how:

1. Click one of the checkboxes in the movie list to enter Selection Mode
2. In the blue bar at the top, check the “All” checkbox on the left
3. Click the icon with the 3 dots on the right, and select “Update from Core”
4. For “Audience Rating”, select “Replace current data” in the pop-up
5. Click “Save and update”

For all future movies that you add, you will get the Audience Rating from IMDb automatically.

I hope you are all staying safe. In the Netherlands, we just went into a stricter lockdown, including a curfew, meaning we can’t go outside between 9PM and 5AM. So it looks like we will have to remain in our work-from-home situation for quite a while 🙁
