Software and app updates released in 2019 (page 4)

As you probably know, macOS Catalina (version 10.15) was released earlier this week.
In Catalina, Apple has made two major changes, that will affect all software that you run on your Mac:

• All programs you use need to be 64-bit. No more support for 32-bit applications!
• All programs you download outside the App Store need to be notarized (=approved) by Apple.

Of course, our Movie Collector software has been a 64-bit application since version 18.1 (April 2018). And this week, we got it approved and notarized by Apple too!

So today, we released Movie Collector 19.3, 64-bit and notarized, so fully Catalina compatible!

Fixed:

• Drag/Drop image would put image in Downloads folder when using “just link to dropped file”

• Crash in Field Defaults screen
• Edit screen: Edit pencil buttons were broken

A big step forward for the Book Connect software today, in which we add many new editable fields and Back Cover images. Also, a handy new tool to fill/update your entries with information from our Core online book database.

Today we have added many fields to the software, all now editable in the Edit Book screen.

Of course, the pick list fields are immediately available as folder fields too, so that you can browse your collection in folders by Illustrator, Narrator, Original Country, etc…

New: Add your own back covers

With this big update for Book Connect we have another surprise for you: Back Covers! That’s right, a brand new back cover field you can modify yourself.

Use the “Find Back cover” button to find one, or upload one yourself:

New Update from Core tool

Update from Core fills in the fields in your data entries with data from our Core central online book database. By default, it only adds new data into fields that were still empty on your side, but the config screen also lets you opt to overwrite your data with our Core data.

This new feature is now available for the following fields:

• Publisher
• Title
• Subtitle
• Format
• Language
• Number of pages
• LC Classification
• LCCN
• Dewey

How to use Update from Core on your book entries?

1. Select the books you wish to update by clicking the checkboxes in front of them.
2. Click “Update from Core” from the blue action toolbar (it’s under the 3 vertical dots
   button)

You can choose if the update process should leave, update or replace the current data for each field with the Update from Core settings popup:

Still a lot of comic and game releases going on, with v5 of the CLZ Comics mobile app now live and CLZ Games v5 currently being worked on. But don’t worry, we did not forget the movie, book and music collectors!

In the background, we have been “secretly” working on big updates for the CLZ Cloud and Connect software, adding a lot more fields and Back Cover images! This has already resulted in updates for Movie Connect and Movie Collector this month. Similar updates are coming up for the book and music editions in the upcoming months.

Also coming up, probably even next week: mobile app updates for CLZ Music, CLZ Movies, CLZ Books and CLZ Comics, with several user interface improvements to the Edit screen and Manage Pick Lists screen. The iOS versions will also be updated with some iOS 13 specific tweaks.

Version 19.4.1 should’ve flagged your collection to be synced with CLZ Cloud if it contained information that has now been added to the sync. It didn’t. That’s fixed in 19.4.2, so expect a big up-sync after updating to this version!

With all the big comic and game related releases going on, it has been a few months since the last Movie Collector update. But we didn’t forget you! In the background, we have been “secretly” working on a big update, which is available now as version 19.4!

Fixed:

• In some cases the recent purchases list in the statistics screen was incorrect.
• Cover price was not downloaded when adding/updating from Core.

Last week, we released CLZ Comics 5.0, of which the most popular new feature was the new automatic comic values tool.

After the release, we immediately started getting questions from many users “Okay, I see the values now, but where can I see the TOTAL value of my collection”?

Of course, we were way ahead of you! Planned for inclusion in the v5.0 release was a cool new Statistics screen, with charts, totals, everything. Sadly, we had to skip this feature because of time constraints, as we really wanted to make our planned v5 deadline.

However, 10 days later, the Stats screen has been finished now, waiting for you in version 5.0.4!

Today we have added many fields to the software, all now editable in the Edit Movie screen. These are all ‘edition-specific” fields, that is, information specific to the DVD, Blu-ray or 4K edition that you own:

• Subtitles
• Audiotracks
• Screen ratios
• Layers
• HDR (HDR10 / HDR10+ / Dolby Vision)
• Color vs Black and White
• Edition Release Date
• Extras

We found an issue with syncing user plots: they didn’t sync correctly. All fixed and good to go now!

Fixed:

• Add Screen: Year was missing from Search As You Type results
• Add Screen: Barcode results could sometimes be wrongly highlighted in blue
• Edit Screen: Renamed “Issue Title” to “Title”
• Templates: “Star Rating” and “Read It” controls are back (under Personal)
• Main Screen: The quick search dropdown could get stuck on the screen
• Manage Pick Lists: Genres list was missing
• Manage Pick Lists: Removed “Condition” (now Grade)
• Updated a couple of warning pop-ups

Fixed:

• App could get a crash loop when trying to show an empty series folder.

New:

• New setting to always display grade and/or values in list view
• Added default values for the Grading Company field

Fixed:

• Using “Update Values” could time out
• Add to Collection button would sometimes not show in Add by Barcode screen
• Returned the Edit Series button in the Edit Comic screen
• Multiple Collections: Have/Want summaries now only show for the active collection
