I found one program I liked more than the others, but it was bought by some other company and dropped out of sight. Now I had a choice of using a years-old program with no updates and no support or finding a new program.
I don't remember how I happened across Collectorz, but the first time I used it I thought "MAN! Where has this been all the time I've been searching?" Then there was an update.
FANTASTIC! Here's where it all goes south.
WRONG! The update actually not only made what already existed better, but it added MORE things! More HELPFUL things! I figured the company would eventually sell out to the highest bidder (that's just how my luck runs sometimes) and I'd be looking for a replacement again.
NOT SO! Not only is it still around, it's better, easier to use, and more capable than it was when I first fell in love with it around 10 years ago.
Another shocker.
Contact them for technical support. Not only do you always get and answer, but (and this is maybe even more hard to believe) THEY'RE ALWAYS RIGHT!
If you get this program to catalog your CDs (or movies, comics, games, etc.) and you DON'T appreciate the obvious thought and planning that goes into providing a world-class program you really must not need an 'inventory' program as badly as you thought!
In short, I've bought a whole lot of software in the 30+ years I've been dealing with computers, but I don't believe there's been one I like as much or would miss more than Collectorz!
I had a ton of uncatalogued music, I was way behind - but in the last couple of months since I started to use Music Connect I managed to catalog about 3500 CDs. Excellent job. Beautifully streamlined.
I used to be a programmer in the early days ( I'm 52 now and a computer technician) .Mostly Clipper Summer 87 and afterwards Microsoft Foxpro 2.6 (I still own the 3.5 disks) .
I have great respect for those who spend their lives creating amazing software! Your company deserves all the honours and respect for your hard work.
YOUR PRODUCT IS WORLD CLASS.
I am beyond impressed!
Thanks again for such great products.
Thanks again for your hard work at making this a fun program to use!
Very good recommend.
For any recent or more mainstream disks it is easy to add to your collection by using either bar codes or scanning the CD Itself.
I also scanned any covers that we're not available online. So with newer discs you can probably catalog 30-50 per hour. Bar codes are quickest (of course you need a scanner for this).
I haven't used it yet to catalog any digital files so I can't comment on that but it's great for what I wanted to do with it.
It has been a close encounter with the collection.
One thing I did discover while adding the CDs is that there we have so many cds that we had double, triple and sometimes quadruple copies of the same album (we will be having a garage sale one day so we will be able to sell them then)
BTW I love this program, makes it so much easier to get the job done.
Being a husband of a professional musician we are always looking that certain piece. So I have cataloged all our cds, records, tapes and all digital audio all I one package.
What a time saver! Thanks!
I already had all of my CD's cataloged in the Collectorz database in my Mac, so this app was a no-brainer.
I have 9,813 CDs catalog'd to date. I started using Movie Collector a few months ago and have about 1,100 input thus far.
Great programs.
I have close to 2,500 CD's logged in and counting. I also have book Collectorz and movie Collectorz.
This is by far the absolute best CD cataloging software, and the people at Collectorz are wonderful! Thanks Collectorz, for being so much fun!!
