CLZ / CovrPrice FAQ
Let me try to answer the most common questions about the upcoming partnership between CLZ and CovrPrice (CP):
Q: To get comic values in my CLZ app/software, do I need a subscription to CovrPrice?
A: Yes, that is correct.
To get access to the comic values from CovrPrice, you will need a subscription to the CovrPrice “UNLIMITED” plan, which is US $6.95 per month or US $60 per year.
You will also need an active subscription to your CLZ app or software. A grandfathered account will not suffice.
Q: So does this mean I need to use two different sites or apps?
A: No, that is not necessary, you will get the comic values *inside* your CLZ app/software. You do not need to go to the CovrPrice site to see the values.
However, because of the CovrPrice subscription, you *will* have access to the all functionality of the CovrPrice site, like seeing values for all grades for raw and slabbed, checking on value trends, looking up the actual sales a value is based on, etc…
Q: When is the CLZ / CovrPrice integration going live?
A:Launch Day is Tuesday, Oct 4. The launch will consist of new 8.0 versions of the CLZ Comics mobile app (for iOS and Android), a big update for the Comic Connect web-based software and a new 23.0 version of Comic Collector for Windows.
Q: Can I import my CLZ collection data into CovrPrice?
A: Yes, that is possible, the CovrPrice guys can help you with that. Just contact them at email@example.com and ask. They will then ask you export your data to a CSV file from your CLZ Cloud site and they will do their best to import it into their system.
I have to repeat though, this is *not* necessary for the CLZ/CP integration that is coming up, as that will give you the CP values *inside* your CLZ app/software.
Q: Once the integration is live, will my CLZ collection data sync/merge with my CovrPrice collection data, or vice versa?
A: Nope, there will be no collection data syncing or merging whatsoever. This collaboration is only about getting comic values for your comic entries INSIDE the CLZ app/software. That is where your collection data needs to be, that is where you will get the values.
Q: I have a CLZ subscription and a CovrPrice subscription, so how do I link my accounts?
A: Here’s how to link your accounts:

Q: Can I just pay for a 1 month subscription and then cancel and keep the values? Then maybe after a year subscribe for 1 month again to get updated values?
A: No, I am afraid that won’t work. To have access to the CovrPrice values in your CLZ app/software, you always need an active subscription to CovrPrice. As soon as your subscription expires, the values will disappear from the app.
Q: Will I only get values for new comics I add or also for my existing collection?
A: Of course, you will get values for your existing entries too, no need to re-add them. There will be an “Update Value” command in the menu that you can use the get fresh and up-to-date values for your entire collection.
Q: Will the CovrPrice values replace my manually entered values in the Value field?
A: No, the existing values in your Value field will be preserved, these will not be overwritten. The CovrPrice values will be downloaded into a separate read-only, not editable, “CP Value” field.
In the main screen lists and the Statistics screen totals, it will display and use EITHER your manually entered values OR the CovrPrice value, based on a new global setting in the Settings screen.
For example, this will let you use CovrPrice values, but for specific comics manually override using the Value field.
Removing the old values is quick and easy using the Edit Multiple tool. Just go to your [All Comics] list, tap the checkbox icon at the top to enter Selection Mode, tap the ALL checkbox at the bottom to select all your comics, then choose EDIT from the Action button menu. Select the Value field there and proceed. Leaving it empty will CLEAR the values.
Q: To get values, will I have to assign a Grade to all my comics?
A: Ideally, yes, as that will give you the most accurate value. As you know, values greatly depend on the condition/grade of your copy. You can use the efficient Edit Multiple tool to set Grades for ranges of comics quickly, e.g. set all your recent comics to a “9.4” grade, then set all older comics to 8.0, then maybe set your “in bad shape” copies to a “5.0” once by one.
However, if you do *not* set a Grade, you will still get a value, as CovrPrice will then provide you the value of the most commonly sold grade.
Of course, make sure you at least set your “Raw vs Slabbed” toggle correctly, because that will give you raw CP values or slabbed CP values.
Q: I read about CovrPrice’s new 7 comic condition ranges for raw comics. Does that mean I will have to re-graded all my raw comics?
A: No, that will not be necessary. Our server will automatically “map” the existing Grade values you have set for your comics to one of their 7 new condition “ranges”.
For example, your 9.6 to 10.0 grades will map to their Near Mint+ range, your 7.0 to 8.5 grades will map to their Very Fine range, etc..
Q: Will it be possible to get the values downloaded in my own currency?
A: Yes, the values will be automatically converted to the Currency you have selected in your Settings screen, using the current exchange rate.
Supported currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, NOK, SEK, DKK, CHF, ZAR, BRL, RUB, PLN, IND, CZK, SGD, JPY and HUF.
Q: I am not interested in comic values. If I do not subscribe to CovrPrice, can I still keep using the CLZ app/software?
A: Of course you can keep using the app/software as you always did. This is an *optional* service, if you don’t need it, nothing changes for you, *even* if you are still using the app in grandfathered status.
