Adding label field to Music Collector Connect

Post by steveoat87 » Sun Jan 29, 2012 12:03 pm

In future versions, can you add the CD label (e.g., WEA, Sony, etc.) field to this?

Thanks

Connect already shows the Label field:

In my collection, label is not shown on all the albums listed on connect, though the label data does show on my collectorz database on my computer.

I would like the option to add label when viewing on connect. Currently there is no option to edit this field.

Currently, Label is considered a "central database" field, meaning that Connect will show Label values from our central online music database, that is from the linked album.

The reasoning is that the Label value is the same for anyone anyway, so why let everyone upload it separately?
Same for track lists, these are not uploaded either.

If you encounter an album that has no Label, or the wrong one, use Core to fix that in our central database entry.

Problem is with things like label and UPC code they do vary for the same album from country to country.
How do you envisage Core can handle that? As it seems that Core can only handle one version for each album. i often see the upc and label are different but if I change it someone else will change it again most likely.
What is needed when we submit is a tickbox to allow us to signal to Core that it is a different album, which can be for other reasons as well, eg remastered, extra tracks etc. The Australian barcode is most often different to the US one.

Correct. Which is why our online database has the Label field at the DISC level, so it allows for each version of the CD to have a different Label.

When you report an error to Core from Music Collector, it will take you to the Core page for your specific edition. So if the Label is incorrect there, it is indeed incorrect and you can feel free to change it.

Ok , I didn't realize it was at disc level. Is it the same for the UPC code, should I also change that?

Our system allows multiple barcodes to be listed under one entry, so yes, please add your UPC codes.
