June 19, 2009I've never wanted to write to a company thanking them for their product before (although I've been known to write a complaint or two!), but I'm so impressed with BOOK COLLECTOR that I had to do it!
Before discovering this program, I'd been toying with the idea of creating an Access database for my 1,200+ library of books, but I couldn't keep it simple enough to actually get started. I wanted
cross-references, AND lots of categories and sub-categories, AND a method for keeping track of each book's location, AND a way to record my own synopses and notes, AND. . .well, I wanted it all.
The whole thing just seemed too much like work, so I gave up and did a google search for book inventories, and (gasp!) there you were!
I browsed through the many screenshots, read the FAQ's and testimonials, and I couldn't believe it!
It was as if you'd been reading my mind!
What impressed me even more was the fact that I used the support link to email a question about the program, and I got a super-fast response. I wasn't even a customer yet, but you took the time to answer me right away. That's an awfully good indication of the kind of support I'd enjoy once I actually purchased BOOK COLLECTOR.
So that's what I did, and now I'm hooked for life!
Not only is BOOK COLLECTOR exactly what I wanted (and then some), but it's fast, reliable, easy to use and (WOW!) stable. Ordinarily, I tend to lose interest in the repetitive process of entering information, but this program is actually fun to use!
In fact, I keep discovering more great features - like the ability to enter the websites for authors, publishers and so forth, and have an active, underlined hyperlink with each of their books. This is something I never would've thought to include in the database I was trying to plan! And that's
just the most RECENT feature I've gotten excited about!
I'm over a quarter of the way through entering my books in BOOK COLLECTOR now, and even though my collections of DVD's and music CD's aren't nearly as large as my library of books, you can count on the fact that I'll be buying MUSIC COLLECTOR and MOVIE COLLECTOR in the
near future.
Also, I have a large collection of stones and crystals, and while browsing your FAQ's, I got the idea to try out PHOTO COLLECTOR for keeping track of them. So, that another one of your apps I'll be needing! I simply cannot get over the versatility of these amazing programs! They're worth every penny!

Well just got this a few days ago and find it an awesome piece of software to use and it's something I've really needed for some time.
I'm scanning everything to show the true state of my collection as I have just CD's,CD's & Manuals and box'd editions and when I'm done it will make buying online via Ebay etc alot easier and I won't end up buying the same game twice like I have done in the past.
My scanner has been running hot since and I hope it doesn't blow up :lol: as I'm only 1/5th (400 entries so far)of the way through my PC game collection. Ian

May 21, 2009I started using Book Collector in 2003. Even then, it was the best product available for my needs - to record the books I have read. It is a great tool to take with you to the book store or library. Last week I decided it was time to upgrade. I am thrilled with the improvements, especially with the "Add book automatically" feature. With simply an ISBN, all the book's information is loaded from the internet.
But even more impressive than great software at a good price, is the service delivered.

I think a lot of the appeal comes from the cover images - it allows browsers to thumb through in a manner similar to the way they thumb through my actual collection of DVDs.

It is tremendous to have all this information at your fingertips. When I go to buy a new movie a couple of clicks tells me if I have the movie already. It even imports the cover image for quick identification.

I have thousands of movies, TV shows, and documentaries.
Before it would take me hours to find something that my wife and I could agree on. Now I just make an HTML page with your export options and keep it updated on her computer as well and we can review everything from the laptop right there on the couch without having to rifle through drawers and reams of CD holders or cases to find just what we are looking for.
The folders option that allows you to see each genre makes life so much easier.

April 26, 2009I found your website and I started with the free trial of the standard version and input the first 50 DVD's I had and it took me 10 minutes to enter the barcodes and about 5 minutes for all the barcodes to be searched and downloaded to my library.
I LOVE THIS PROGRAM!
So I bought the Standard Version then after realizing that friends borrow my DVD's I upgraded to the PRO.
Your program ROCKS!!!
It has everthing I want it to do that, your program finds every title I've entered and if the barcode isn't found typing in the name of the movie always worked.

Naturally, I downloaded the trial for the Comic Base. I used it for about 2 minutes and REMOVED the trial program from my computer. What a piece of s*~t! I guess the guy reviewing owns stock in Comic Base.
Maybe I didn't know how to use it but I approached both Comic Base and Collectorz the same; no idea how to use either and was completely impartial. Collectorz was a breeze to pick up and Comic Base could make a sober person drink themselves into debt.
Outstanding product... I'm having a blast. This is the first time in 25 years, that I can actually know (and find) what I have in my collection! I LOVE this program!

We had over 1,600 books entered in 4 days of daughter's visit. She flew in from Dallas, TX to WI to help her dad get started on entering his books - we have a loooong way to go but I am able to
enter and use the program after a little coaching from her.
Great product and easy to use once you know the 'lingo' and what to look for - we have books off the floor now and in bags waiting for space on the shelves - but nothing can come into the library until it is logged in - daughter's rule!

My CueCat, which is very finicky, as I am sure you know, works much, much better with 6.1. Also my database loads so much quicker. It took me some time to get used to the new Add screen but I like it.
I have 528 books in my database. I guess that is small compared to a store but for a personal collection it is a lot. I use my program to refer to when I want to buy something, in order to make sure I haven't got it already.
I love the ability to change the fonts, too. Now it looks the way I want it to look.

This is lifechanging!!
After a week of barcode scanning I have now thrown away 2,000+ DVD cases and filed away all of my discs and leaflets in folders.
My spare room is a spare room again - no longer an annex of Blockbuster!!
And not just have you given us a room back... DVDs are also so much easier to locate.

February 18, 2009I can't tell you how much I love this software. It does everything I need and much more.
I've always wanted to catalog all my CD's and tried to create my own database. However, I kept having to add fields and go back to edit every single CD. About 2 years ago, I gave up.
I've only cataloged about 150 in Music Collector, but, it's been a breeze. I know I've yet to discover all the ways it can manipulate the data, but, I'll get there.
I really like that it doesn't eat gobs of memory and there's no 'terminate-stay-ready' embedded in the software and sitting in my systray. (I hate those things.) Simple to use straight-forward software. I'm in heaven.
I believe this is going to save me a great deal of money, as I have a tendency to purchase duplicate CD's because I can't remember if I already own it. The online music retailers are going to be very unhappy and so will my friends, to whom I give all my duplicates.
Now, I can see the light at the end of the CD cataloging tunnel and it's not an oncoming train. I hope you get rich off of this; you deserve it for saving my CD collecting butt!

OK, I admit I'm old but the ability to change font size and the new
type face is nothing short of wonderful!
Now I don't have to move my monitor to my face or my face to the monitor! Very good job!
I use both Music and Book Collector and love the programs. I have almost 400 older classical music LP's and the program helps me find the piece and movement I need quickly. A separate database holds my CD collection.
Book collector performs the same function for my 600 + volume library. I also use the program to keep track of books I have read but do not own so I can find them again quickly for footnotes or additional reference.

It is so intuitive that my 7-year-old has taken on the task of scanning in our books for our new home library. She has successfully scanned in over a hundred books this weekend and could even manually search for older books with ISBNs successfully using your interface.
Granted, she is a very bright 7 year old, but your interface and database makes it possible for her to be our chief librarian.

I've used it to create a library for our school. It acts as our card catalogue and it is wonderful! Its super easy for teachers to use, making finding books by subject a breeze. Its also easy to manage "checked out" books through its Loan feature. Its been quick and easy to add new books automatically or manually, and makes taking inventory a breeze.
I love that I can tag books by their topics to create easy reference themed lists for display; Poetry, Valentines Day, Feelings, ABCs, . . . . I am by no means a computer whiz, knowing only the "basics" on my Mac, but this program was easy to learn, modify for our needs, and teach to others. Their manual and online support are thorough, quick, and strait forward enough for even me to follow.
The school administration has been so impressed with how organized and slick looking this program is. It really makes me look like I'm doing way more than I actually am : )

I cannot believe how easy it is to find movies or movies with certain actors in by searching for key words. It is brilliant.
After buying many expensive programs that fail to deliver what they state it is refreshing to purchase a program that exceeds my expectations. Also thank you for the after sales service and help with my initial problems (which I might add were my fault).
You hear of so many problems of traders ripping people off on the internet that you forget that there are reputable people also. I understand you get a lot of nasty emails but I am certainly not one of them.

Can't tell you how many of this and that that I have duplicated over the years because I could not find that one item I needed or wanted.?
I have my two grandchildren living with me and all of us love our movies. I have some 3-4 thousand; some on VHS, Laser, DVD and now the start of something really great - Blue Ray.
One of my grandkids will yell, where is Monkey Trouble and off I go to see if I can find that one, even though I have a somewhat-organized alphabet list. Your program gives me the topping on the cake because I can now go a step further and tell them a bit of what the movie is about and even show them a picture of the cover on the movie.
You have done a marvelous job and someone "Up There" must have led me to your website.
As I say, I hope this e-mail gets to you to let you know your hard work over the years will be appreciated by me and I will pass the word to get you some more business - for this product and others that you have available.

I already own DVD Profiler 3 but it does NOT allow me to add movies by title and it is bulky and very limited compared to your program. I added an image of a movie I have and that was so cool. This program truly rocks!
I am a clinical chemist and I know quality software when I see it. Yes, those were the days when I grew up on DBase, R:Base, FoxPro, Delphi and Access. Whatever your api is written in says wow and screams GREAT CODING AND AWESOME INTERFACE....
PLEASE DON'T DO AWAY WITH ADDING THE TITLE MANUALLY!!! MANU USERS LIKE MYSELF NEED THAT FOR SPECIALTY CULT-B FILMS!

December 22, 2008After using this program and finishing off inputting all the movie data, using the CueCat, which finally got working, I think the program would have been more than worth the total amount that I ended up paying (which you have refunded to me, true to your word).
I'd have been willing to pay $100 for this program if I'd realized just how extensive and amazing it truly is. I can keep track of the movies I lend out, never buy another duplicate (I found 6 duplicate DVD's), input new DVD's or Blu-Rays as I buy them; it's just a great program and I'd highly, highly recommend it to anyone.
Next, I'm going to start cataloging my books. I can just take the CueCat upstairs, plug it into my computer, run Book Collector and start scanning my books from my library. I'm very excited about it.

Your response to each of them was quite diplomatic and I applaud you for being levelheaded in solving their problems. It never seems to amaze me that most people demand respect, but are short on being respectful.
However, if it will raise your morale and the morale of your colleagues a little more with regards to your products and services, I, as a satisfied customer, have not had any problem with the downloading of my "trial edition" of the Music Collector Software.
I have been working with the instructions given on how to get started and I am ecstatic over the results thus far. Moreover, I am anxiously awaiting now for the arrival of my scanner to begin cataloging my collection, which has been on my shelves and in boxes for years with no order.

I looked for a program that I could understand and would not be time consuming to keep track of my hundreds of CDs. I looked at several and when I found yours had a free trial, I thought that is wonderful I could try it before buying it.
I was very pleased but I thought one thing would make it ideal,the ability to use my Cuecat scanner I got from RadioShack and had no use for until now. I checked the latest on your website and found to my delight it might be possible to use the Cuecat (it is the old type without a USB connection,it splices into the keyboard connection) so I plugged it in and tried it, The first try didn't work but the next one did-WOW!
I knew I had to pay for the license key to get unlimited use as I used up the free trial very soon!
I cannot thank you enough but I will tell my friends what a wonderful program you created and urge them to try it then buy it.

I started originally to build a database using Microsoft Access, but got depressed in having to start again with a new Database each time I thought of something new that I wanted to add. I then did a quick Google search and found Collectorz.com.
Although I hate spending money on software (especially if I can write something myself), I was so impressed with Movie Collector that within 5 minutes I had registered it. It's great that there are companies producing quality software tools at very affordable prices.
I am an Electronics design engineer and write a fair bit of software for many "Embedded" systems, so I appreciate the time that goes into developing products such as MovieCollector, and hence its real value.

December 03, 2008The overall experience is simply too good to be true.
Last night, though I was under the weather with a sinus infection, I scanned another section of books from my library, came upstairs to the PC and unloaded all the info from my scanner into the book list I'm building. It's so easy even a sick person can do it!
My plan is to print Dewey labels for each book and organize accordingly. Any bibliophile loves to putter away time with his books, but Book Collector gives you more tools to putter with.
Someone will say to me, "Say, do you have something on acid rain?" With 2,000+ books, I've finally lost control of having each book at my fingertips. I can no longer retrieve its location from memory... Book Collector makes finding the book a fun process. A few clicks and it gives me Title, Author, Subject(s), and Dewey number.
Since everything is shelved by Dewey number, how easy is that?!
I LOVE this product... it includes absolutely everything a bibliophile could want.

As any modern book collector knows the dust wrapper is a key part of collecting and the ability to download, scan & edit then display dust wrappers is almost as evocative as handling the books.
I have printed the details of different genres of my collection for friends, they then have a reference document with a dust wrapper, synopsis, ISBN and publisher so that they can build their own collection.

I purchased Version. 5.6 via the web site yesterday and have been having fun ever since. I have been in I.T. Services most of my adult life. I have seen lots of software in fact most software that failed to reach its advertised limits. Defacto - This is why Movie Collector is such a fabulous surprise.
I have been looking for a Vista compatible DVD manager ever since I purchased my Samsung Q1 ULTRA and this software mates to it like it was designed for it. Via WIFI anywhere in the house or on the road I can view my personal Movie storage or access the online database and all the data on each movie is automatically updated.
I am VERY VERY Happy. Thank you.

On the back cover of one of my books, I noticed an ad for a free comic book cataloging program. I thought "this would be a perfect way to keep up with my collection, especially since I'm just starting out." Well I downloaded it, and TRIED to use it. It was absolutely terrible. I couldn't figure out how to do anything, and it's main purpose was to get you to buy comics from their website.
Still intrigued by the idea of comic book managing software, I kept browsing and came across your free trial. I downloaded it, and within minutes, I was finding all of the comics I bought. I managed to buy $150 worth of comics in the first month I started collecting, and this software is genius.
I can record how much each comic was, where I purchased it, what condition it's in, and I'm completely blown away by how your website already has so much information on the books, even covers!
When my next payday arrived, I bought your software and I'll never use anything else. You guys are doing a fantastic job.

Finished my CD inventory for insurance purposes.......2017 CD's all alphabetically on disk to hand to my insurance agent. DVD's 177, Books 94....again, all on CD disk for my safe-deposit box and my insurance agent.
Inventory valuation: Approximately $75,000.00 all in less than 24 hours......had I had to write this out, it would have taken months and lots of temper tantrums.

July 30, 2008I use three of the programs of Collectorz.com: Book Collector, Music Collector and Movie Collector. I like the ease of the programs and the way the books are organized alphabetically. I am a librarian, and this program makes my personal collections easier to manage.
I also have a wide range of music I like to listen to and the Music Collector makes it easier for me to find the albums in my collection and pull them off to listen to. I love music from Country to Adult Contemporary to Soft Rock to Dance.
Lastly, Movie Collector, I like the way the program has the names of the characters listed and the actors/actresses who play those characters--nobody can agree with me who played in what--I just pull up the DVD information from my movie collection and show who played who.
I am glad the developers at Collectorz.com have come up with a wonderful program that makes organizing people's personal collections easier--as a librarian, I love this program and would be lost without it! Keep up the great work Collectorz.com!

July 28, 2008I'm a pastor and have used Book Collector for years for my theological library. I also get a number of magazines and rather than keep the whole magazine I clip articles and then forget that I even have them.
I've now solved the mess of boxes of uncategorized clippings by printing a simple sequential numeric label and assigned it to the printed article or web clipping. Then into a three ring binders for shelf storage go the sequentially numbered articles and I use Book Collector to categorize and locate the searched-for article(s) for me. Not as slick as populating the database via a book ISBN look-up, but still extremely efficient. Thanks.

July 24, 2008I compared other products with yours in my research before I purchased and obtained recommendations from individuals I know who highly recommended your product. It does appear to do exactly what I needed for my large DVD collection, almost 800 as we speak.
The barcode entry really makes it easy when you have that large of a collection to start entering. I was able to complete entering my 800 plus movie library in almost no time using the barcode entry method. It was really a lot of fun because it allowed me to get acquainted with all my movies all over again.

I'd probably get the Books one as well but I've got so many DVDs to put in now that I've finally got round to properly starting on them, that I might not live long enough to get round to the books!!
Movie Collector has all the fields needed for Audio Adventures since they're basically films without pictures and, since I've now taken the program to the DVDs by putting that one on my laptop, is in the right place.
New Releases and Updates services are a brilliant addition which shows just how much you understand the people you're selling to. This will make it far easier to keep up to date because I don't have to take the comics to the computer or search every title individually.

I first want to say your database for collectors (mainly CDs) is great! I have at the time of writing this 11,021 silver pressed factory CDs not including 99 cdrs of various colors that are band and/or band authorized issued. I add about 25-50 CDs monthly to my collection.
I have been using Music Collector to manage my cd collection now for about 3 years. I mainly listen to all genres of rock music from 1964 to present. I really enjoy Music Collector, it keeps my collection very well organized alphabetically by band name, title of cd, year released, label and number of tracks.
Without Music Collector I wouldn't know what to do with my collection. I love to add to the database when I find that rare CD that's not in the database, but thats pretty uncommon.

April 04, 2008Your software has been a breathe of fresh air for me. I was an advocate user of Microsoft Access and Excel to manage my collection. A friend of mine turned me on to your site. One day (about a year ago) I finally downloaded a trial version and liked what I saw.
It took me about 32 hours to input all my CDs which was about 1900 at the time. Since then my collection has grown to just under 3750. Using a handheld scanner is a great way to input the information. What I really like is I can search for a particular song or Artist. It takes a little time to return the results but I know it's because of the size of my collection.
I will probably change my DVD collection over to use your software as well. I have about 1200 DVD movies.

March 12, 2008Being in the position to keep track of (far too many my wife says) CD/LPs, DVDs and books I thought that a database application could help. I tested several trial versions before I came across the Collectorz suite. Breath of fresh air compared to the others that I have tried. The interface is intuitive, searching of libraries is good and trouble free. It runs perfectly on my XP machine at home and often when I fire it up I get told that there is an updated version (features and bug fixes). The upgrade/install process is flawless and puts other similar apps in the shade.
On the odd occasion that I have used the support desk the service has been first rate. Knowledgeable, helpful, polite and very quick. If only other help desks were like this one. Overall the Collectorz suite, IMHO, has got to be one of the best around for its purpose. Very easy to use and good value for money. Bravo!

Several Years ago after experiencing another program and attempting to build my own data base, both of which were less than desirable, I stumbled across the Collectorz website and purchased the program. While time and events did not permit a full time commitment to “data entry” on my part, I was still impressed with the program.
With a Collection (bordering on obsessive and still growing) of approximately 3000 each VHS and DVD, I knew this to be exactly what I needed to organize my collection and be able to offer viable proof to the Insurance Company. Finally, this past year I upgraded my computer and took advantage of upgrading to Movie Collector 5 and must say I AM REALLY IMPRESSED with the progression of the Program, the Team work and the Community which supports it all!!
The automatic down load for as much information as possible, the flexible ability to personalize data fields, searches, print outs and numerous other features far exceeds any expectations I may have had. With my ever growing collection, and still being somewhat restricted by time and events, I make as many entries as possible when possible. In Striving for perfection and consistency of Data on my part has proved to make this a slow but Beneficial process that will be a forever work in progress.
Overall the Movie Collectorz Software has made Life so much easier and the Dream of having a Full Catalog and Accountability will soon be a Reality.

February 10, 2008I just wanted to mention. I have been manually inputting movies and it was a chore in the beginning. Now I have a CueCat scanner and man this thing works perfectly! Just a swipe with the CueCat and the Collectorz program is off and running.
The CueCat hooks up with no problem and within seconds of plugging it into any XP machine your off and running. If you don't have a scanner either because you didn't want to spend the cash or didn't think it would be much of a benefit, take it from someone that manually input over 200 movies. You want to scan bar codes instead of manually inputting the information.
The CueCat is relatively cheap so cost should not stop anyone. It completely eliminates input errors and it scans fast!
Just my 2 cents worth of input, hope it helps someone else decide to use a scanner.

I have a large libary starting and what I like about it the most is that if I loan something out it will let me know instead of losing it and not getting back. Back to the movie store I go! The scan tool was just a feature I could not have lived without, I didn't want to start a database and spend months typing the info into a program for my 1000+ DVD's, HD, BluRay and VHS movies. I think it actually took me 4 days, while watching TV to do so. And the ability to add movies that were not found automatically was also a nice feature.
I would, and have, recommend this program to anyone with any size collection! The larger the better!

December 28, 2007I downloaded the trial, then purchased after 15 minutes of testing. This is fabulous software ! It solved a big problem: I have and elderly mom. We have been buying books for her to read and she now has hundreds she has gone through. We cannot remember what we have purchased or what she likes, so she used to put a post it note inside the cover for reference.

November 28, 2007I am using my database almost daily (who isn't). First in the beginning, that was about 3-4 years ago when I first tested the demo version of Movie Collector 4, I was surprised that I finally had found something that worked the way I needed it to work.
When after a year or so my nice home made Access database begun to suffer from it's inconsistence and largeness I begun searching for a professional program. The ability to get movie details from an online source was one of the main topics I was looking for, but also the different viewings, sorting and filter function that I needed to migrate my collection to a new program. All of this I found in Movie Collector!
After that I had tested the program for about 6 months I bought my self a copy and begun to move the collection from Access. As the years went past my database just grew and grew and the way I worked with the collection slowly changed to fully take advantage of the features in the program.
Then one day a new update was announced and was I happy after installing it. The new version 5.0 had almost everything that I now was looking for. I would like to praise the new 5.3 version. The filter and viewing features are super, thank you for a very great and useful program. It really helps me in my daily work with my movie collection.

October 24, 2007A few weeks ago, I bought another DVD-Movie catalogue program and after entering in the information for about 50 movies, I wondered what the advantage of the program was, when I could create a data base in either Word, Excel or Access, and do the same thing because nothing was automatic and I had to enter all the information in myself.
I then wrote a friend asking if they knew of a good program for keeping track of my DVD Movies, and they directed me to your site and I d/loaded Movie Colllector. I entered in a couple of titles and was amazed as to the ease of use, and the thoroughness of the Movie information that was included automatically. It even imported the information from the other program. I bought your program immediately.
I buy the DVD Movies and make copies so I can watch the copies and keep the originals in pristine condition. I store the DVD's in several locations. Those I loved and I want to watch over and over. Those I'd like to see again sometime. Those I have not seen, and those I would not want to watch again, but I'm too cheap to throw them out. Your program makes it so easy to keep track of the movies and their locations. What a gem of a program you and your team have created. It is also great to have help files that covers everything and you don't have to guess what is being said. But best of all I like to install a program and just start using it without jumping through hoops.
Your program is intuitive and easy to use with a shallow learning curve. Thank you for this, and for keeping your program so affordable.

It is so easy to add movies, then edit the details and add the few covers, that are missing in your database. And I'm able to contribute with my own scanned covers, thereby giving something back for others to use. I just love that I'm able to customize almost everything and make it personal.
The export function to HTML is so nice. Now I'm able to view my DVD collection from all over the world. And export to my PDA - This is the end buying the same movie twice! Right now I can't think of anything missing - but keep up the good work!

I downloaded 5 or 6 other comparable software pieces, which were designed to do what your music collector does. Believe me, the competition's programs are junk in comparison to yours. I didn't have to load but two or three CDs into the other's demo programs to realize that I didn't need the frustration I was already experiencing at least another 800 times.
I loved your program from the beginning and I still do. It is designed well, and is very user friendly. I would recommend this program to anyone who needs to keep an accounting of their collection, for whatever reason.

Since the "Risk" for not having the information in case of fire can run as much as $20 / item it is important to have them captured in an inventory program. Having detailed information downloaded from the internet is a bonus.
Running the numbers the potential loss could be :
100 * $20 = $ 2,000
500 * $20 = $10,000
1000 * $20 = $20,000
and so on!
I have somewhere between 3000 and 5000 pieces of Movies, Music (CD's) and Books that I risk should I not have them inventoried. I estimate this software could save me as much as $50,000 should I have a loss by fire, water, tornado, etc.

May 07, 2007We LOVE book Collector. When we first purchased book collector (for our old computer) we did a lot of research, looking at a wide range of products out there today. We tested out a handful of them, and Book Collector was the one that best fit our needs.
We have a relatively small personal library of about 1200 books. Book Collector was an affordable way to do the most with our books. We love it's versatility and ease of use. In the time that we've had Book Collector, I don't think we've had any complaints. It has been a great product.
I've always felt like I was getting away with something when it comes to Book Collector. We've never had problems with it, it's never crashed, we've never lost data, and it doesn't freeze up.

May 04, 2007I've been using Movie Collector 4 for the last 4 years and I love it (I use it on both my desktop and laptop). From what I've seen, the changes in the new version are excellent.
I just bought an IPod a few months ago, I spent last night playing with the program and also found the box set option to be very useful; I have quite a few collection sets yet I list the movies individually so finding them now is much easier. My dvd collection is borderline insane, and I have been carrying a list with me to ensure no duplicates. This makes keeping and maintaining my inventory and keeping track of loans almost effortless giving me more time to watch movies.
I myself have been programming since 1985 and was so glad somebody else has gone to all the work putting Movie Collector together. I can appreciate what it involves.
Keep up the GREAT work; I can't wait to see what's next !

I just couldn't bring myself to getting rid of them so I decided to put them in storage. I wanted to record the books and what box they were in. Your program made that job a snap! It was amazingly easy! I was originally going to write my own software to do the job, but for $39.95 I couldn't do 10% of what your software accomplishes. Thank you for saving me the effort.
I went hog wild this weekend and purchased 4 of your products (Movie, Book, Game and Photo). We cataloged everything with a hand-held scanner I already owned. In all we scanned over 900 books, 300 movies, 40 games and I'm in the process of reviewing and scanning photos. There is no way I could have gotten the level of detail and accuracy that your software provides within a weekend. Now I know exactly what we own, where it lives (i.e. what box number, shelf, etc) and what the approximate value is for insurance purposes.

March 28, 2007I searched the internet for months trying to find a catalog program for my movies. At that time I had 1650 VHS tapes and it was impossible to keep up with them without some sort of catalog. When I found Collectorz.com my search ended.

I have been searching for a software package to catalog my DVD and music collection and have tried several, but none can compare to Collectorz.com's software. It is fast, easy to use, the internet data downloaded, including the covers (front & back!), is thorough, and the functionality is great. The one piece I especially like is the personal tab where I can create my own drop downs and lists for my movies.
I group my movies by actor, or Academy Award winners, and this page allows me to create those kind of categories. The one thing I would like to see is an Academy Award information tab. What nominations and awards did the movie recieve? I am inputting that data on the personal tab and that works for me. Other than that, I can't say enough good things about the software.
I can't say enough good things about the Flic scanner as well. My collection of movies and music is HUGE, and I did not want to have to add them manually. The Flic scanner solved that.
The problem I was having was on movie night with friends. They would look through all my DVD's for 30-40 minutes just to find the one they wanted to see. With the software, they can now enter criteria to find something to watch and it takes less than FIVE minutes for them to decide. Last night, my friends wanted a comedy with Tom Hanks that was fairly new, less than five years old. In a matter of about one minute, they had a movie picked out.

December 23, 2006I have really enjoyed the program. It is by far the easiest comic database to use and quickly populate - I tried four different programs before deciding on Comic Collector. It has really helped me get my collection organized. I now know what I have (and what I am missing!).
The export to i-Pod feature is incredibly useful as well, since I can take a complete list of what I have and what I am looking for in a compact format instead of a big paper binder.
I'm at about 3400 comics and still have several boxes to go, but there is no way I could have done such a precise inventory without Comic Collector.

I have not found anything bad about it but rather everything good. It is a joy (plus peace of mind) to add my books to the data base as I have over 5,000 books in my study library. Its great to have a detailed record instantly on hand.
I am learning new tricks and benefits every day I use it. With only about 400 books listed so far (this has taken some time) I am thinking maybe I need to invest in a scanner:-).

July 25, 2006I LOVE your product. I use it all the time and purchased this for my father (81yrs) because he is tracking his DVD collection in gulp, Wordperfect in a table. He was skeptical---but, when I showed how easy it is to add a DVD and have all the information available (director, time, etc.). He was hooked.
I have been using the DVD collection software for a couple of years now. The "loan" feature is why I originally purchased it...because my daughter and her friends were borrowing DVD to watch in her dorm room at college. I was losing track of which ones she had, because we were tracking with notes on post-its. Ever since having your software, that is no longer an issue.
I also periodically print out my library information and put the printout in our safe deposit box for insurance purposes. I would never be able to remember all the titles we have if we should have a fire.

July 12, 2006This really is a wonderful program--I bought Photo Collector to help determine which mineral, gemstone or fossil was which by being able to pick out a picture and then look at the details--much easier than the spreadsheet I had them in.
Less guessing.
What is so useful is the flexibility you have built in. The photo is not my main interest but only a tool to identify something. You have put enough fields in--and an easy way to rename the fields. Once I transfer all of the data about each item into your product, I probably can do away with the spreadsheet completely.

June 06, 2006I have been a registered MuC user from before it was even called Music Collector (it was called KIC Music at the time) and have had only pleasant surprises since then.
All of the questions and suggestions I have given in the past 6 years were used one way or the other to improve and enhance MuC. But more important most of the functionality I needed was added long before I even realized I needed it (most recent example: export to iPod).
What I find most surprising is that I am still using the lifetime license I bought in the KIC Music time (and when Muc became Muc standard and Muc Pro, this license was changed to Pro automatically).
I don't normally write messages like this but I just thought I had to let you know.

I do not often compliment software makers, although I should sometimes, but I have to on this one. This is the best one by far that I have tried, easy to use and it includes pictures and all the details that I love to have on my movie lists.
Without a doubt, it is the best and I congratulate you on producing a very very useful, fun, and inexpensive program. I cannot wait to use the other ones that I purchased but will await the scanner.
Thanks again for what I consider a fabulous product for a very detailed person. As I think this is so great I just purchased a color laser printer to print out the wonderful detail that this program offers, black and white does not do it justice.

As a DJ l have some 5,000 legal files on h/d and after using Magix, Sam, DJ Pro, Datafile Print Options etc., l could not find anything that would let me print off just artist, album and song title for a quick reference A to Z file, in a nice, fully adjustable (Both visual and able to read in low light) style.

January 16, 2006I want you to know I LOVE this program. I am currently a graduate student, studying to be an elementary teacher after 21 years in Law Enforcement.
I recently took a child's literature class where the professor urged us to begin collecting books, at least 1,000 of them for our own classroom library. I was concerned about tracking them and keeping records on them.
I started inputing the data on the books in the collectorz and found that I could put notes in any topics such as self-esteem, family, animals, etc. So when I need to find a book for a certain child's interest or need, I can do this with a simple search. I will also be able to successfully track my books as children "check them in and out."
I have told my professor, the author of our text book, Elementary Children's Literature about this program.

January 10, 2006Thanks for coming to the rescue again! I love your product and was so sad to be without it when the computer repair shop said the motherboard of my new laptop had caught on fire, and a chip had melted right through the board, filling their shop with smoke.
This was in the middle of restoring my hard drive. It was bad enough to be without my computer--but to find out that Game Collector had not been backed up wast he final straw. Now Game Collector is working again, thanks to you.
And it is SO easy to use. I tried other software, but the interfaces were awkward and just not very attractive. Populating my game database is a breeze. I love the resizable images of the box covers; I don't have room to keep all the game boxes, but I love the art.

I recently removed all of my DVD's from the original packaging and put them in sleeved albums to save space. I numbered each sleeve and with your software, was able to index and print a catalouge of my collection of 700+ DVD's. My family can now browse through the catalouge, pick a title and go directly to the disc.

October 21, 2005Just wanted to say thanks for a great product. I have been using Movie Collector with the Flic barcode reader for about a week. I now have my collection completed with 589 entries! It was very easy to get everything set up and enter all the movies into the database. More importantly, your product is the best I have found at getting the information OUT.
The filtering and use of thumbnails is excellent! Also, I have printed out my collection using a number of filters. I have a wonderfully grouped catalog that I can show to my guests to help them select a movie from my collection.

I was in the process of designing my own database when I decided to do a web search just in case something like this existed. Thank goodness your page came back in my Google search. After downloading the trial version, I decided to purchase your product within 10 minutes. (I can't wait to start loading my books and cd's. Yes, I bought the combo package.)
The product is easy to use, user friendly, and extremely flexible. If I could offer one piece of advice, you might consider expanding your source documentation a little. I had to add a movie manually. When it came around to loading the cover, it took me a little time to figure it out. Screen shots in the source documentation would have been a time saver.

I've dreaded putting my DVD collection into a database: I've put it off for years. With about 12 hours of work, I've cataloged 385 DVD's! This would have taken me MONTHS to manually install all the information. In addition, I've found duplicates and sorted the DVD's into categories.

I would like to take this opportunity to say that Music Collector is probably the best peice of software on my PC and is getting better at every update.
I want to say that all three (book/movie/mp3) are terrific products and I use them regularly. I tried several cataloging products but none of them delivered what you guys at Collectorz do. And the support is outstanding!
Of the three products, I use book collector and music collector the most. Book Collector, especially, is truly a fantastic product -- I enter every book I buy (and I buy a lot of books) and, with the new info-sources, it's really easy to enter the books and grab the cover pages without going
through cumbersome scans. I also grab the blurbs, just for future reference. The best thing is the loan management facility -- I've not misplaced a book or a CD yet since I started using these products. With Book Collector, I am now slowly adding in all the older books in my library.
The sheer flexibility of the software (allowing me to add genres/categories, customize labels and fields, etc) makes it dead simple to use and adds enormously to its usability. The learning curve is very shallow and completely intuitive and a lot of attention has been paid to small details -- for example, being able to specify a customized path for the database, images and backups so that backing up all the data periodically is effortless.
As I said, I tried at least four other book cataloging products, including some very much more expensive. Not one came anywhere near as close to offering the features, speed, stability and flexibility of the Collectorz products (and they had really ugly GUI's too). When it comes to cataloging software, the choice is, IMHO, a complete no-brainer: it's Collectorz all the way.
I will be buying movie collector, too, shortly as I build my collection of DVDs.

The fact that my parents and I can have it installed on our personal machines and are able to view each others collections will become invaluable - as soon as I have finished doing the cataloging. I am also very excited to be able to track to whom I have lent my books/music/movies - the most common way I lose my items!!
After some support from all of you and help on the forum, I have nearly finished fine-tweaking one of the templates to suit my specific needs, and can start the ever on-going process of adding in my collection! I love the setup of the program and it's ease of use.

I like Movie Collector's ability to go online and retrieve the information about each movie - what a timesaver! It even gives the front and back cover pictures.

I have actually bought both MusicCollector and MovieCollector. Have used both for years and I am VERY happy with both, excellent programs. When I will get time I will start to file my book collection and then get BookCollector from you.

The feature to download info on the item from sites like Amazon etc. is very useful and the viewing options cater to all my needs. I got on the web to look for a Movie Library software and ended up getting all three. I might even start collecting comics just to use Comic Collector!

By now I have spent quite some money on a variety of software, but the purchase of Music Collector and Book Collector must have one of the most rewarding buys. The program is efficient, compact and transparent in all facets. Editing of data is extremely simple. I cannot recommend these programs enough.

It's made me consider using Book Collector as well (I've tried the demo version).
I know you asked to reply if the product was not working, but I wanted to tell you how well it did work. I bought Music, Movie, and Book Collector all at once and I have to say that the products are great!
I inventoried my 600+ CD collection in two evenings watching TV and did my 150+ movie collection in a third. Great interface, I used a cuecat to scan most of the titles and had very few problems.
This is a wonderful product. I had thought about building one myself through Microsoft Access, but your interface with the online databases saved me a huge amount of work.
Only occasionally does software come along which is really great. I've been using Music Collector for nearly two years and I think it's one of the best programs I own. Your support through the forums and regular bug fixes and updates is also excellent.
The product is fantastic!! After cataloging 50 DVD's I purchased the product and had my 300+ collection in the system within a few hours using the UPC from my DVDs.
If I had this software a year ago, I could have saved myself approximately $100 in duplicate DVD titles.
Yesterday I purchased your fine Music Collector Software. I've found that this software more than meets expectations and I'm actually very impressed with how well it works.
Congratulations, by the way, on creating an excellent piece of software.
Wow! I love the new automated scan feature for Q'ing up new discs! What a time saver. I loved the program before and didn't think it could get much better. Nothing can touch it for cataloging discs.
Just a note to thank you for the new "Add a Movie" wizard interface in v.4.1. It is splendidly simple and effective.
Even though I had mastered the ins and outs of the advanced interface in v.4.0, I find this new wizard even better and it will most certainly be appreciated by newbies.
Once again, thanks. You have not only honored the feature requests I have sent you, but you continue to improve an already great product. That's what great Shareware authors do, and it is MUCH appreciated.
I ripped my entire CD collection to MP3, and the file collection is now at just under 7000 files and just over 40 GB. I cannot imagine keeping the ID3 tags under control without something as powerful as MP3 Collector. I registered the program without a second thought and haven't looked back.

I love the ability to sort on almost any field (author, title, genre), and the ability to sort on user defined fields (books I do not yet own). I love the ability to print lists of my books according to almost any criteria.

I have been using Book Collector for about a week and have found it to be the best that I have ever come across. I wish I had found this many years ago as it would have saved a lot of wasted time. In 20 minutes over the weekend I was able to add about 800 books into the database.

I heard about your program on a newsgroup posting, so I grabbed the demo off your website.
After playing with it for 15 minutes or so I was easily convinced that yours was the kind of application that I had been searching for someone to make for many, many years, and I promptly bought the Pro version online.
Now I finally have the option to properly sort and catalog all my games, ranging from any system, and at the touch of a button can instantly find out anything I want to know about my collection. I used to have a website where I did that for myself (using php / mysql), but with your program and its online search capability, the effort required is completely painless in comparison, and I am deleting the database for my website as I write this.
Its rare that I ever make a point of writing to a software publisher, rarer still that I purchase software online, but your product is just too unbelievably good to miss. I love that you've thought of so many things that I, being the perfectionist that I am, always thought important when it came to categorizing games.
The 'The' naming convention and sort option is fantastic, and I am very greatful that all games beginning with The don't automatically get classified under 'T'. To some, it may be a small point, but for me its just one more reason as to why your product is perfectly suited to my needs.

The change you added to this new version which allows one to lookup by name/artist from the various sites is FABULOUS!! I want to thank you very much for adding this feature. I know it is something I sent in a request for a long time ago and you have come through with a great solution. Now I can create song lists for the LPs I've catalogued, which will make it much, much easier to search for specific songs to be digitized for CD compilations.

I have been searching for an easy method of putting my CD collection (Classics and Theatre Musicals/Operas) onto my PC, but never quite finding what I wanted. Then, in today's Daily Telegraph, the very same question was posed, and a number of replies appeared. I tried your site first, and didn't
need to bother looking at any others, as it was just what I wanted.
I have a CD rack on one wall, consisting of 48 sections, each capable of taking 15 jewel cases (which may be single or double holders!), so you can see I was facing a LONG job, without too much enthusiasm!
As soon as I have got everything onto the computer I can then return to my collection - something I have had on hold for a few years now, lest I end up with more than one copy of the same disc!!
Thanks again - it is now a job I am looking forward to, not a task any longer!!
Truly the best for comics & magazines
I've tried a number of comic cataloging programs and this is the best for data entry, sorting and displaying, and searching. All fields are tallied when displayed, so you know exactly what is in your collection and in what issues. Program and data files are compact and fast. Documentation could be better, but it's easy to learn and support via email is quick.
The more you use it, the more you'll like it!
I just have to say you guys are the best. I have been using your program for about a year now. At first I used the demo and then purchased the full version.
I am very critical with programs especially the ones you pay for. The reasons I love this program is that you guys update it constantly. Meaning you are always improving it. That's great. Basically that means that you are always improving my investment.
Next is that the program is just great. Easy to use and print. I mean come on I put a movie in within secs not minutes. I have over 400 movies and you know a brotha needs to keep them organized.
I've used Davilex Easy Music for several years, but now I've upgraded my computer to Windows XP and found that Easy Music was not compatible. I purchased the successor, Davilex CD Beheer, for a few euro's, but I was shocked by the lack of functionality.
I downloaded a few shareware programs from Tucows and I immediately liked your program. As I have to enter 600 CD's, I really need the CDDB connection, and I like to have the flexibility in defining my own prints and export files (HTML).
You sell great stuff!!

I found your product by using a Google search on 'Music Collection', which was a refinement from my initial search on 'Catalogue CDs'. Your website was the first item returned, so I checked it out and was impressed. The Google search also returned comments from other users, all of which were complimentary.
I downloaded the demo and began to add some CDs. Again I was impressed. After 5 CDs added and a night 'to sleep on it' I decided to buy. Now my collection of over 400 CDs has a place to reside, electronically, without me having to type them all in. Also, music compilations can be tracked.
Congratulations on developing a product that is straightforward and applicable to a single item. Too many products / companies try to be too much to too many, your focus is appreciated.

I found the program at ZDNet.com download section and installed the software. My wife and I have been evaluating other CD databases and yours was the best one for the money.
This program is da bomb. I've been collecting books for decades. I have thousands of the things.
The big problem has not been the database - I can manage that. The big problem is typing in detail information about thousands of books. Too boring!! Too mind-numbing!! Thanks very much for this program.

I just wanted to send you an email and say that I have been using Music Collector a long time now and I just LOVE it. I would recommend it to anybody looking for a music database.
It doesn't crash, it has excellent features and the upgrades are good too.
My mom likes to buy DVDs for us kids as gifts during the holidays. She mentioned one day that she was surprised I hadn't created some sort of software for managing our collections of DVDs. Something that we could easily print, or an online database. That way she would know what movies we have so she wouldn't buy us duplicates.
So, I set out on a quest to find such software. And with the aid of my trusty Google searchbar, I found the site collectorz.com. I had previously found a movie database software from a different company. I tried it out, and was very disappointed. So, the search continued. I thought it would be cool if you could just enter in the title of the movie and the software would fill in the rest. Well, that's when I found your software, and I was very pleased with it. So, I purchased the software for my mom.
I especially like the check-out feature. People are always borrowing movies from them, now they can keep track of who had them.
I would just like to take this opportunity to let you know what a great product you have developed in "Music Collector". I'm approaching 5,000 CD's now and it has been a great help in organizing and keeping track of my collection.
I purchased the program in October 2001 and and have enjoyed compiling my list. For the most part the program has performed flawlessly. The size of my file is approaching 9.5 Mb, so I'm contemplating separating the collection into files for each genre so it will be a little more manageable. I have lots of classical and jazz as well as a good selection of lots of other types of music.
I've only added CD covers to the favourites from my collection as this is a bit time consuming and some covers for older (or deleted) releases are hard to find. I look forward to upcoming releases and updates to this great program.
I found your product through download.com. I downloaded and tested a number of other packages, but none of them had the features of your product. I am pleased to hear that you are offering a discount on another product as I was thinking about purchasing MP3 collector.
For the past month or so I've been trialing almost every shareware on the web for music cataloging.
My collection consists of over 3,000 Classical CD's and well over 300 or 400 LD's, DVD's and VHS'. As you may well know, Classical Music is pretty troublesome to catalog. Yes, there is software out there specifically for Classical Music collectors but they just don't have or do what I wish.
Last night, I had almost made up my mind in going back to the terribly boring MS Excel which I've been using for this matter. Suddenly, in my AOL search, I find Music Collector. Boy, I've been using it for hours turning it upside down and testing any imaginable thing. Congratulations, you have a winner!

Great program! I learned about it by doing a Google search. I investigated many programs and down loaded four. Yours was by far the best. Something I've been dreading doing is now fairly simple.
I purchased KeepItCompact, kept using it as it converted to Music Collector. When Movie Collector came out I purchased it. Last Summer I converted my 400+ CDs to MP3 and have just gotten around to wanting a program to manage them. Since you keep the interface of each of your programs consistent I decided to purchase your MP3 collector. I am also currently evaluating your Book Collector.

After visiting your site and reading the messages posted there I downloaded the trial version. In
less then 5 minutes I had entered 100 issues. I was very impressed with the ease of entry and the ability to add virtually all relevant information about the books that I needed.
My collection is around 15,000 books. I am very happy that I have this software to make the process of cataloging that much easier.

I was looking for a movie database program to catalog all my movies. I went to download.com and looked under the "Home Inventory" catagory. I downloaded a number of different movie cataloging programs, and tried them all and yours was the best.
I stumbled upon the Collectorz software site while surfing www.comicbookresources.com where you had a banner ad for the comic book database. I downloaded the demo version of the comic book software and within 15 minutes of playing with it and the demo database I decided I had to have it.
Then I saw you had an offer for purchasing the movie, music and comic book database and I decided it'd be worth it to pick up all three. And I have to say I'm just as impressed with the movie and music database as I am with the comic book database. Especially the ease of use. Within the
first hour of using the movie database I was able to enter my entire (although small) DVD collection; next is my VHS collection.
