Hello

New to MusicCollector, and new to this forum - so sorry if the question has been asked and answered before.

Just bought the MusicCollector Pro and entered 25 albums and want to print them out. But i am only able to print the first 5 albums.

And now, it's not a pirat version - bought for full price

Just select "All albums" or "All tracks" rather than "Selected albums" if you want to print everything. Presumably you had the five records MuC wanted to print already selected before you entered the print routine. If you want to print a selection of your collection, you can't change the selection within the print routine - close the print routine and select the ones you want to print in the main screen - then go back into "print".

Don't worry too much about what's on the print preview - it doesn't always show everything that's going to print - it's there mainly to confirm the kind of list you want - just try actually printing and see what happens.

I would like to export (and print) a list of all my songs in the dance genre, so a friend of mine can sort them in to more specific genre's, like funky house, trance etc.

How can I select all of my 'dance songs'?

1. Make sure all your Dance albums have "Dance" in the Genre field. It doesn't matter if the genre is just called dance, or if it is "Dance - Funky house" (or whatever) - so long as the word "dance" in there.

2. Click on "Set Filter" - you should have an icon for this in your toolbar - it looks like a funnel (filter) with a pencil. When the filter box comes up, click on the icon with the little green plus sign, type "genre" into the "field" box and "dance" into the "value" box. Click on "OK".

3. What you will have now is the subset you want to send to your friend. Select all displayed records by pressing "Ctrl A".

4. Click on the "print" icon (the little printer in your toolbar). Make sure you have "print selected items" checked (it should be done already by default).

You should by now by cooking with gas.

Incidentally - when you get your list of "sub-genres" from your friend, it makes sense to put this data into another field (you certainly don't HAVE to - this is just a bit of OldGeek advice - if you want you CAN just shove the lot into the genre field, but in this case leave the word "dance" in as well).

You have a lot of spare fields you can rename and set to put your own data in - you could pick one of these and call it "sub-genre" or "style" or something like that.

Generally speaking, for reasons I don't have space for here, the FEWER different genres you have specified in the genre field itself the better.

Old Geek, thanks for your quick reply.

I can't select my albums.
Since I have the dance tracks on various compilation cd's and some full albums.

My view:

Artist/Composer - Album View

But in the track view, I can't select all either.

Someone?

No need to use Filters.
Switch to Track View, set your tree to show Genre folder. Then select a genre folder on the left and Select ALL tracks on the right. Now Print.

My method should work in track mode too. Get the right pane into list or thumbnails mode and click on the right side to select all. If the list/thumnails area is covered by the record display, then click on the little arrow thingee just above the artist/title display.

Alwin's method will also do the trick - provided you have the genre for every track you want to print as "Dance" (nothing else added) - whereas mine will also work if some are (for instance) "Dance - Hip hop" - or even "Techno - Dance".

I suspect the thing you haven't got yet is selecting several records. The easiest way is in list mode - where you can select lines just as in windows explorer.
