In a month's time Windows 7 will be released. Have the Collectorz Programs been tested on Windows 7?

I will be moving both Music and Movie versions over to Win7 from XP - am I right to assume that the previous update (maybe a few years ago now!) where the folders were moved to the My Documents folder for Vista compatibility will be fine with Win7?

Multiple users have already confirmed that our programs work fine under Windows 7.

I'm trying to install the Opticon driver on Win7 x64 tonight and it's not installing. I tried compatibility mode for Vista, but still no luck. Is there a Win7 compatible driver for the scanner?

We haven't heard about that problem before.
Just to be sure, you are using 64-bit version?

Windows 7 comes in both 32 and 64 bit, 3 different versions for home users and 3 for business users similar to the xp versions except the small version for OEM builders

Yes, it's 64-bit. Here's the message I see trying to install the 64-bit drivers.

I've been choosing to reinstall, but nothing visible happens on the screen. When I try to plug the USB cable in, the drivers aren't recognized. I've also done the install using Vista compat mode, but still doesn't work.

Try this to see if it works ( it normally do),

Unpack the files in a folder

Right My Computer - Select Properties - Select Hardware tab - Select Device Manager

The device with question mark should be the scanner -double click the item - select Driver tab - select update driver - choose not this time - click next - choose Install fro a specific location - browse into the folder where the files are - select the inf file in windows - click Finish

Same problem. Can anyone confirm if they have this driver working with Windows 7 64-bit? If it's a local problem, I'll keep digging, but if others have the same issue, I'll report it to Collectorz so they can investigate.

AJ has just tested all scanners on Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit and they all worked correctly, using the existing "Vista" 32-bit drivers.

We don't have a Windows 7 64-bit machine here (yet), so we can't confirm that the same holds for the 64-bit edition and the 64-bit drivers.

I UPGRADED Vista 32-bit last night to Windows 7 32-bit. The drivers were already installed on Vista and carried over to Windows 7 just fine. The Opticon scans just fine and links right up to my Collectorz programs. So the only thing not working for me is installing the drivers on a clean install Windows 7 64-bit. I guess I'll just do without the scanner on that machine unless someone can find a way to make it work or update the driver for Windows 7 64-bit.

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate. Last night I installed my Book Collector and my Opticon 2001 scanner using the drivers I got from the link provided by this forum in an earlier message. Everything works great! It was easier than when I installed it in Vista 32-bit. I had to do a lot of work to get that install to work. Opticon couldn't even help me.

At least we know it worked for someone on 64-bit. I still haven't gotten it to work and gave up. It was just taking too much time.
