Add pre-ISBN books by LC Classification Number
We have just released version 6.1 of Book Collector for Windows, which also includes the new screen font features just like the recent releases of Game, Movie and Music Collector.
But, that's not all that's new here.
We have added a great new feature to our online book database system: search and add books by Library of Congress Classification Number.
You can now add "pre-ISBN era" books by entering their LC Classicification Number, which is often printed on or inside the book.
Plus, we have also completely rewritten our Author/Title search engine, which has enormously improved results and performance for Author & Title searches, "Title only" searches and "Author only" searches.
Preview Book 6.1 here (with screenshots!) or just download the new version.

BIGGER IS BETTER
We have just released new versions for Music, Movie and Game Collector with a cool new feature: customizable fonts including font size.We finally came through on two old feature requests:
- "I want to change the movie list font size".
and
- "Your program uses a Windows 95 era font, why don't you change it to something more up-to-date? Or better yet, let users pick their own fonts!"
When we implemented both these changes we instantly realized how big an improvement "cosmetic" changes make.
Easier to read. Less eye strain. More personalized.
Our software now uses the Windows system font (Segui on Vista, Tahoma on XP) or you choose your own fonts for all screens.
If you want larger fonts for your lists just use Ctrl-PLUS and Ctrl-MINUS to increase/decrease the main screen font size (or View / Font Size).
The upcoming Book Collector version 6.1 release will have this feature too.

- Improved results for barcode searches through Automatic Amazon Lookups for Barcode Searches.
- Bigger cover images, up to 600 pixelz high!
The new font uses the Windows system font (Segui on Vista, Tahoma on XP).
Don't like it? Then use Tools/ Options / Screen Font to choose your own font for all screens.
If you want larger fonts for your lists, just use Ctrl-PLUS and Ctrl-MINUS to
increase/decrease the main screen font size (or View / Font Size).
The new font system will also be implemented in our other titles pretty soon.

New: The Opticon scanner
The quickest way of adding books, DVDs, CDs and video games to your database is by scanning their barcodes. No need to type information, just scan the code.
The online search instantly returns the exact edition you own.
The Flic laser scanner and the CueCat swiping scanner were already fully supported in our software.
We have added a third scanner to our recommended scanners: the Opticon OPN-2001 laser scanner.
It is a very tiny scanner, fits snugly in your hand, with a very powerful laser beam. The scanner has a built-in memory for 1.000 barcodes per session.
No batteries needed, it is rechargeable via USB.
Included in the scanner box is the USB cable and a lanyard. No stress anymore in finding your scanner, it's dangling from you neck.
The Opticon scanner is currently supported in Music, Movie and Book Collector for Mac OS X and in the latest Windows versions for Music (version 8), Movie and Book Collector (version 6).
The Opticon scanner support will be included in the upcoming Game Collector release.
Check out the scanner comparison chart for an overview of all three scanners, including photos.
