Collection Statistics

After all the hours of cataloging your collection, wouldn't it be nice to be able to actually 'see' your albums shown in graphs? Well... that's what we thought, too! So we have built in a statistics screen that allows you to create graphs and charts.

The Statistics Screen

On the right of the Details View panel in Music Collector, you can switch between Details View and the Statistics screen. If you click the little padlock icon, Music Collector will always start up in Detail View.

In the example screenshot above, I've chosen to see an overview of the different owners in my collection and how many albums each person of the family has.

You can generate statistics like the above for pretty much each field of every entry in your collection. Click the yellow folder icon and choose one of the fields.

Here's what the different toolbar icons do, when clicked:

  1. Choose Folder Fields for Stats
  2. Toggle Bar Chart / Pie Chart view
  3. Lock/Unlock Current view
  4. Toggle Order by Count / order by Name view
  5. Choose a color scheme
  6. Toggle 3D on/Off
  7. Print Statistics
  8. Help (links to this page)

Use a Filter to generate statistics

If you're running Music Collector PRO, you can also get the statistics for a custom filter:

First you will need to create a filter. You can read more about how to do that here.

  • Open Music Collector
  • Create a filter
  • Search > Set Filter > Create/Modify Filter(s)

Your filtered selection will now be displayed in the statistics view.

Database Totals

You can also view a quick overview of your database totals. This allows you to see things such as the total number of discs or the average price of your collection.

Click Tools > Database Totals to see a brief overview of your collection.
