Print Screen

Here's an overview of all possible things you can customize in the Print screen.

Tip: Step-by-step guide for printing a simple list.

Printing a list: all settings

Check out everything you can customize and you will soon be a print pro.

  • Albums to print: Decide which albums you want to print:
    • All Albums
    • Selected Albums
By default it's set to "All Albums". If you want, you can also make a selection of albums, and use the "Selected Albums" option here. Use the number to see how many albums will appear on your list.

  • Sort Order: This will determine the way your albums will be sorted on your printed list:
    • Use main screen setting: Have your list the same way your main screen is currently sorted.
    • Custom setting for printing: The "Sort Fields..." button will now be enabled. Use this button choose the fields you want your list to sort on (Title, Release Year, anything you want).

  • List: These are your List settings. This is where you can make the most changes as to how your list will look. Let's have a look at what you can change:
    • Columns: Choose the columns you want to include in your list.
    • Check the box next to the Columns button to include the front cover thumbnail of each album.

  • List type: 2 different types of lists to choose from:
    • Single Long List: as many items as can fit per page.
    • Paged List: Use this to generate a fixed number of items per page on your list.
    • Items per Page: set how many items you want on each page.

  • Enable row shading: When checked it will make your entries stand out by using shading and no shading on each different line.

  • Report Details: Some layout options here:
    • Report Title: Fill in a report title for this list (e.g. List of my Albums). This title will appear on page one at the top of your list.
    • Include report creation date: This could come in handy if you find a lost list somewhere in your home and want to know when you created it.
    • Font: Select your favorite font, size and color.

  • Print Preview: Check out a preview of what you're about to print. The preview only shows a few pages of the actual print. All pages will be printed out when you click the Print button.

Done! You are now set to print your list. Before you click on Print, you may want to save these list settings. This way, next time, you can just pick it from your Saved Templates next time! Use the "Save As Template" button for this. Simply give it a filename, ending with .xsl, enter a description (e.g. My Awesome List) and hit Save!

Now check if you have enough paper and ink in your printer and click Print to print your personal list.

Custom text on your list

If you would like to modify the text at the top and/or bottom of each page, check out the Header and Footer tab in the print screen.

  • By default the Header (top of the page) will say:
    <center>Page #page</center>
This will display the text "Page". The word "#page" checks the number of the page, and displays that as well. Because it's surrounded by "center" tags, all this will be displayed in the middle.

  • By default the Footer (bottom of the page) will say:
    <center>Printed #date</center>
This will display the text "Printed". The word "#date" checks todays date, and displays that as well. It's in the center for the same reason as the Header.

You can use all kinds of HTML tags in there, or just use plain text. You can always use the words "#page" and "#date" to display the page-number or date of printing.

Play with it a little to find out what kind of different lists you can print out!
