Importing from text

Preparing to Import

With Music Collector you can import a .csv or text list. Music Collector's text import is limited to four fields: Artist, title, UPC (barcode) and TOC (Table of Contents). Importing all fields is not necessary but will provide better results.

Your text/csv should look something like this:

Important: It is not possible to import any additional fields. Your text file must contain only these fields, and must also use the same order, i.e. artist followed by title followed by barcode etc. After importing your text list you can update it with additional information from our central database (e.g. cover image, plot, cast, etc).

  • Click Edit > Update Album(s) Automatically
  • A message will appear asking you if you'd like to link your albums, click Yes.
  • Music Collector will now search our online database
  • Results will be shown at the bottom of the screen
  • Select a result form our database then click Update

Update Albums screen.

You can also click Search All to search all of your imported albums, then click Update All to update all albums in the list which have an exact match. If an exact match is not found in our central database, a list of results will be provided from which you can select the correct result.
