How can I print a selection of my database?
This is possible by selecting a number of items in the list first. The examples are for Movie Collector but will work the same way on the other Collectorz.com software.
Custom selection
In the main screen, you will see a spreadsheet like table. With the mouse, click on one item there, and use the control+click method (Mac: command+click). This means holding the control key on your keyboard while selecting a second, third movie etc.
Then you use the menu File | Print. On the Print screen, under "Items to Print", choose the Selected Items option. See the screenshot on the right. Note that the Selected Items option is only available if you selected one or more items in the list panel first.
Selecting a certain set of movies
In some cases you may first want to sort the list to make it easier to select a range of items. Use the menu View | Sort Order | Choose Sort Fields and mark the field you want to sort on. Choose for example "title" in case you are looking for an easy way to select all titles starting with the "A".
Now that the movies are sorted, click the first movie you want to print, hold down the Shift-key, and click the last item. This shift+click method is a general way in Windows to select a range of things.
Printing items of a certain genre or format
To print all movies that are listed as DVD, or all movies that are Science Fiction, there is a very easy way.
Use the folder mode to group your movies or books. This means use the menu View | Folders | [genre or format]. Now that all items are grouped, click on one group in the left tree. Now you can choose Edit | Select All. This will select all items in that folder.
Use the menu File | Print and choose "Selected Movies" to only print that set of movies.
Printing filter or search results
You can also print a list of items that are the result of a Quick Search or a Filter
First make sure you are in No Folder mode (choose View | Folders | No Folders). This way, the search results will be shown as a simple, "flat" list (as opposed to grouped in folders).
After doing the search, hit Ctrl-A to select all items in the list, then choose Print. In the Print screen, select the "Selected Items" option again.
The printed list does not appear in the correct sort order.
First, make sure you have specified the order in which you want the items to appear.
In the Print screen, under "Sort Order", select "Use main screen setting" to print the list in the order of the main screen.
This can be done by following these simple steps:
There is no direct way to print only certain pages (such as pages 1 through 3, or 1, 3 and 5).
A good alternative is to install a PDF writer. Most are even completely free. Try for example this CutePDF writer.
For other writers, just use any internet search engine, and search for the words "pdf writer free".
Such drivers will install as if they were a printer. This means they can be selected as a printer in the print menu : File | Print.
It will save instead of print, and create a PDF file. When you open the PDF with the Acrobat reader you can select page ranges to print. How do I print a list of all tracks in the database?
