CLZ Movies for Android

Using WiFi, exporting your Movie collection to your hand held is fast and easy.

  1. Catalog your collection with Movie Collector.
  2. Export your collection to the CLZ Movies application on your Android device, including full movie details and cover images.
  3. Check your collection with CLZ Movies, wherever you go. Know which movies you own and which ones are on your Wish List.

Exporting your Movie Collection

CLZ Movies for your mobile device comes with an example database. This database is replaced by your own, when you export your collection for the first time.

Ready? Okay, let's go.

Export using WiFi

  • First, you need a WiFi connection on your mobile device. It has to be connected to the same local area network (LAN) that your Windows PC or Mac OS X computer is in. You also need Apple's Bonjour Print Services for Windows installed. Bonjour comes free with iTunes. If you don't have iTunes installed, you can also download it from Apple.
  • Launch CLZ Movies on your Android.
  • Press the Menu button of your device. CLZ will show a menu: Import, Search, Check for Update. Click: Import. This will make your app visible on the WiFi network.
  • Now start Movie Collector on your Windows or Mac computer and click the Export to CLZ Movies Mobile application button:

    You can also click: File > Export to > CLZ Movies Mobile Application

  • Movie Collector will automatically detect your hand held. It may detect more devices. That's okay. Just click the name of your mobile device to select it (1) to enable the Start Export button (2). This button is grayed out when no device is selected.
  • You can export your whole collection, or a just a selection of movies (for example your Wish List, movies in a certain genre like action, or from a certain year). When exporting only a selection, you must select the movies you want to export in Movie Collector on your compute before clicking the Export to CLZ Movies Mobile application button.
  • For your first export, you check the Replace option under Collection on Mobile Device. Next time, after you have altered your collection on your computer, check the Update option, instead of Replace. The collection on your device will then be updated with only the new additions to and changes that you've made to your collection.
  • Click the Export button and sit back and relax while your collection is being exported to your iPhone or iTouch. Depending on how large your collection is, this may take a while. Time for a fresh cup of coffee. Or such.

Export using USB-cable for Android phones

Exporting your Movie Collection to a file

You can also export your Movie Collection to your Android phone using the USB-cable. This is a quick 2-step process in which you first make a file of your Movie Collection and then import this file to you mobile device.

  • First of all, and this is essential, you should set your android phone as a USB-storage device. If you need help on how to do this, please refer to the manual of your phone or check your phone manufacturer's website for more information.
  • With your device set up as USB-Storage Device, start Movie Collector. When Movie Collector was running when you connected your phone, please close and restart movie Collector before continuing.
  • Click the Export to CLZ Movies Mobile application button:
  • In the Export to CLZ Movies Mobile Application screen, check the Export to File option and Browse, to select your device and click OK (Mac: Open). Most likely you will find it under: My Computer (Windows) or Devices (Mac):
  • Now click the Start Export (Mac: Export) button to export your Movie Collection.
  • After you click the Start Export (Mac: Export), a pop up screen will show, showing you what you are about to do. It shows the alterations you've made to your Movie Collection: Removals, Additions and Updates.

    Check what applies and click Export.

    If this is your first export, you will only see the Additions.

  • Last step: after the export, you must disconnect your device from your computer. Mac people: don't forget to Eject your device the proper way, before continuing.

Importing the file to CLZ Movies

After you've successfully exported your collection to a file on your android phone, it's now time to import into the CLZ Movies application. Just a few steps away!

  • Open CLZ Movies on your phone.
  • Click the Menu button on your device and select: Import
  • Click the Menu button again and select: Import from File and wait while CLZ Movies imports your movie collection.
