"This is Frank Darabont's third interpretation of Stephen King's work although this is the first horror story.Shawshank and Green Mile will stand as classics of the human condition. The Mist will stand as a classic horror film. This is an excellent piece of work and contrary to other opinions the downbeat ending works. Mr.King himself has stated that he was very happy with it. It is shocking yes, but also heartbreaking. I found myself wondering around the midway point if the worst monsters were actually inside the store. "

"Avoid this and read the short story. It is the first one in the book Skeleton Crew. This movie goes along and is quite entertaining and even follows the short story quit well, until the ending. The ending ruined a decent movie. The short story's last word is 'Hope'. Is it a happy ending, no, but there is hope. The movie for some unexplainable reason took all hope away from the main characters. Not only that but it was predictable and a lazy way to end a movie, hoping for shock value. My wife predicted the ending, and I thought "No way, that would no only be a terrible ending, but way to predictable and very stupid." Sure enough, it ended that way. "
