The Flying Deuces (1939)

Stan (Stan Laurel) and Oliver (Oliver Hardy) are two Frenchmen schlepping their way through life, when Oliver discovers that the love of his life, innkeeper’s daughter Georgette is getting married to a French Foreign Legion officer. Oliver decides, that to impress her, him and Stan will also join the Foreign Legion. They do so and struggle to find courage in the face of dangerous battles, and the two are charged by French officials with cowardice in the face of battle. They are sentenced to die by firing squad, but something goes awry and the duo steals an airplane and flees the French troops.
