Plot
The Soviet Union is in losing, gory, bloody conflict with the Mujahedeen in the early 1980s in Afghanistan. After surprisingly becoming separated from their fellow troops a tank engages the local mujahed in battle in the mountains. The guerrillas are led by the Afghan Taj (Steven Bauer). The crazy, U. S.S. R tyrannical tank commander and officer Daskal (George Dzundza) pushes his men and the morality of the tank driver Constantine Koverchenko (Jason Patric), with almost dismal consequences. Sensing that a mutiny was about to begin, Daskal abandons Koverchenko alone in the desert to die; only to find that he's has doomed himself.
