Plot

Based on the novel Oliver Twist from author Charles Dickens the movie is totally centered on an orphan lad who runs away from a workhouse where the children are scarcely fed and mistreated. He leaves alone for London and where he meets a pickpocket named Artful Dodger (Anthony Newley). The pickpocket takes in Oliver (John Howard Davies) and he joins a gang of boys who are trained to steal. The boys have various run ins with a host of characters including the boss of the pickpockets Arch, thug Fagin (Alec Guinness). Secrets from Oliver's family history leaked out through the film.
