Newsies (1992)

Led by the enigmatic and outlandish, Jack “Cowboy” Kelly (Christian Bale) the poor newspaper distributing boys in New York City go strike, as major newspaper executives have raised their distribution fees at the turn of the century. The boys feeling the increased cost will bankrupt them for good stop working and use the city streets as a public forum to air their displeasure. Word of the strike travels fast and pretty soon newspaper moguls, William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer arrive with the intention to crush the boys’ unity and restore order to their industry. Their attempt is met with even more resistance as the boys form a force whose power cannot be underestimated.
