Plot
Off to yet another new town with her military family, Janey (Sarah Jessica Parker) finds a friend and co-conspirator in Lynne (Helen Hunt). The pair are overjoyed when a popular dance show comes to town for auditions to be on the program, Dance TV. Janey, with Lynne's help, has to go behind her authoritarian father's back in order to audition, sneaking out of the house with her dance clothes. When she qualifies for the contest finals, she's matched up with a cute hunk Jeff (Lee Montgomery). But it's up in the air if he'll fall for Janey or for the rich girl who has decided that he's the one for her.
