Plot
Barabbas (Anthony Quinn) is the famous convict who was freed from crucifixion instead of Jesus Christ by Pontius Pilate (Arthur Kennedy). Ever since that fateful day he has been haunted greatly by the ghost of Jesus Christ and struggles to find understanding and serenity in his life. He decides his only escape from his past is to become a Roman gladiator with all of its dangers, but also its trappings of fame and fortune. There he fights desperately to win his freedom and face his past, all while he begins to accept the teachings of Jesus. This struggle with his spirituality leads him to accept, not regret his destiny on that important day.
