Plot

This is a dance comedy featuring characters called Joe Brady (Gene Kelly) and Clarence Doolittle (Frank Sinatra), two sailors who are on several days of shore leave in Hollywood. Joe wishes to party and see his girl, Lola, while lonely Clarence would like to have any girl. They encounter a boy, Donald (Dean Stockwell) who is a runaway and hopes to go into the Navy. The men take the boy back home and meet his aunt Susan Abbott (Kathryn Grayson). Clarence has a crush on Susan but needs Joe’s advice on how to proceed.
