A Simple Twist Of Fate (1994)

Michael McCann (Steve Martin) is struggling greatly through life. His wife has left him to be with someone else who has impregnated her, he lives in a quiet, boring town, and spends all his days and money on collecting coins. One day tough, Michael finds a newborn baby at his front door, which was placed there by her dying mother. He takes the girl in as his daughter, but the two struggle to get along. Eventually, they grow extremely close together and share a strong father/daughter bond with each other. Then, one day a famous politician shows up at Michael’s door claiming to be the girl’s father, while his real intentions are to use the girls as a means to get elected.
