"I don't know where to start, there's so many things wrong with this game. So I'll just start ranting:
First, the load times are way too long, for example try talking to the guy in the first town, with the custom shoes. First you are staring at a load screen for about 20 seconds, after which you get a 3 second cut scene showing the man asking you to try the shoes he made. Then another 20 seconds of load screen to load the "shoe level" in. The level itself takes you under a minute, after which you get a load screen again while the game brings you back to the town scene. Well, you get the point. I thought we had left this particular annoyance behind us a few years ago, guess not...
Then, the controls are terrible, the camera is going all over the place, you keep running into walls, after which the camera sweeps around, making you loose you bearing.
Often it's too unclear where you are supposed to be going or what you are supposed to be doing. I spend a long time running around in the town until I just happened to talk to the shoe-guy (who is one of about 30 people in the town).
Then, the save system: if you have read my earlier reviews you may know that a bad save system really breaks a game for me. Well, Sonic's save system is really bad. While you are in an "adventure" kind of level, you just save by pressing the Start button to call up the Save menu. But while you are in a "platform" level, the Save command isn't in the menu, you just cannot save. And the platform levels are huge, even the first one on the beach. Run out of lives during such a level and you are returned to your last save point. Which often is way way back, forcing you do go through the same stuff over and over again.
To be honest, I didn't get very far in the game, maybe it gets better later. I didn't even complete the first beach level. But I really can't gather the energy to try again, starting in the stupid town again, talking to the shoe-guy again, starting at all the load screens again. So after spending about two hours in my Xbox 360, this game is back on the shelves."
