Description

In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted.

You are a Runner called Faith - and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story. Mirror's Edge delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith's world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous.
Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run.

  • Move yourself: String together an amazing arsenal of wall-runs, leaps, vaults and more, in fluid, acrobatic movements that turns every level of the urban environment to your advantage and salvation.

  • Immerse yourself: In first person every breath, every collision, every impact is acutely felt. Heights create real vertigo, movements flow naturally, collisions and bullet impacts create genuine fear and adrenaline.

  • Challenge yourself: Fight or flight. Your speed and agility allow you not only to evade, capture and perform daring escapes, but also to disable and disarm unwary opponents, in a mix of chase, puzzles, strategy and intense combat.

  • Free Yourself: Runner vision allows you to see the city as they do. See the flow. Rooftops become pathways and conduits, opportunities and escape routes. The flow is what keeps you running – what keeps you alive.

"I've always been special... Always searching for that game who will finally bend some limits, go further than anyone else ever did... And I must say I've always been there to assist that moment... Remember how Wolfenstein 3D created the FPS genre... How unique was GTA when it was first released... With Mirror's Edge, I had the feeling of such a moment... A new style of gameplay, something at least original...
Mirror's Edge could be define as a 3D platform game... Using cutting edge 3D engine, like the Unreal Engine 3, the game is entirely seen from the eyes of Faith (the hero). And when I mean through the eyes, I can't say better... I will have the same feeling and point of view when you go jogging. You'll see your arms, hands, legs, foots, even body, and your head will move too...
You'll also have some weapons from time to time, but they are not necessary to beat the game. You even gain bonus points if you do not kill a single man in the entire game.

In the story, the world has changed. People wanted to have peace, do their thing, with no violence... The government has changed. The laws have changed. Now, every piece of information (telephone, mail, internet, fax, and any thing you might think of) is traced and read by the police. And the masses are happy. On the other side of the mirror, some people denied that fact, and became outlaws. Between those two worlds, communication is still needed. Faith, your character is a messenger. She brings information from a side to another side of the mirror... Until she got trapped in a murder...

The game is excellent. Original cutscenes, top notch graphics (unreal engine 3 and another render engine only for the lights renderings), I loved playing it... Once I started I couldn't stop from playing it... Until I got to the end in only 5 hours. Ouch... Way to short... There are some challenges to do, to complete the game 100%. But you'll need to do the game at least 3 times. You also have the possibility to play against other people's chrono... but some are so good you wonder how they did...

It's a shame the programmers didn't thought about a free roam mode, where you could just enjoy the beauty of the graphics, the flashy colours, or just watch a sunset...

The controls are perfect : under the right thumb, you control the body... LB will make you jump, hang, anything that is higher than you. LT will do the same for anything that is lower than you (duck, slide, ...). Under the right thumb, you'll control the head. And that's it... You can beat the game with that ! Others keys are optionnal, and I mainly didn't used them.

The sound is very nice, perfect captivating music... And when you run, you even feel Faith running by hearing her breath becoming short...

The story is ok, but as it is meant to be part of a trilogy, a lot of answers are not met in this one.

To conclude, I loved this game. It is way to short, but you really feel alive in Faith body... My daughter who was watching me while I was playing told me it was funny how I moved the same way, keeping my breath at the same moment as her... I'm a hardcore player, and it is not often that I do that... But I truly was inside the game. I hope anyone could at least give Mirror's Edge a chance, and try out the demo. After, you'll like it... or not... But I cannot oblige you liking what I like :)"
