"Capcom and zombies, resident evil is the first thing that comes in the mind. Here we got another zombie horror game from Capcom: Dead Rising.
And just to be sure that everybody knows, dead rising and resident evils dont have anything in common except they're both made by capcom and includes zombies. Where resident evil is focused on spooking you with an helldoggy scaring you shitless by jumping in from a window, Dead rising scares you with literally hundreds of brain hungry zombies walking aimlessly and growling behind every corner.
Something has unleashed horde of zombies in some city, there's dead men walking everywhere, there is also handfull of living ones trying to survive in the local shopping mall.
What could possibly be an better place for pulitzer hungry photojournalist than this? Our hero Frank West decides to join the party and goes in to the shopping mall where he will spend next 3 days until getting an helicotper ride out of there.
During those 3 days he has the chance to find out what caused the zombie outbreak.. this is the main plot of the game, with nice twists in it the story really sucks you in.
The whole shopping mall with all the junk in it is your playground, you will be provided with a big variety of weapons to use, from plants to firearms and powertools and vehicles, you can even find a few swords in the mall and hacking the masses with these weapons has never been more fun! For instance, you can take this huge drill, poke it through the stomach of an zombie and let the poor bugger who got stuck in the drill spin around knocking out and killing his "friends" highlighted with blood flying everywhere from the spinning carcass. Brutal but effective.
When you first try to complete the game you will find it most likely very VERY hard, sometimes even impossible.. but never mind of that, the first time you will have plenty to do just by running around the shopping mall killing zombies and finding out new ways to survive. When the zombies are hard in the beginning they will become mere obstacles just after a small amount of playing, so dont worry if you wasn't able to finish the game's main story during the first time you play through those 3 ingame days (time is around 10 times faster than in real life)since next time you play it, all skills and stuff you have unlocked in previous game is still there, your character will have alot of health, nice big inventory and offcourse alot of martial arts skills to hack them zombies in to small pieces!
The real hardness in the games main story will come from time limits, you if you miss a meeting somewhere.. the story is over, and the game asks if you want to load from last checkpoint / save or do you want to continue playing.
There is only a few specific places around the -large and very detailed absolutely gorgeous looking -mall where you can save your game, these are bathrooms and places where you can sleep.
Like i have stated before, the game has alot of those brain eating zombies around, they are the normal cannon fodder, there is also bosses that can be very annoying, these bosses are called psychopaths, by killing the psychopaths you earn experience and items -if the psychopath is protecting his property for example an gunshop's owner is an psychopath..
I guess everybody knows that dead rising looks good, not only that it really does sound and play good too, i think the aiming system with guns could use some tweaking tough, for example you cant take sidesteps when you are aiming with weapon.. well you cant move at all when you are doing it.
Dead rising is survival horror and splatter at their finest, it has intresting story, lots of weaponry and enemies, and truly great replay value. The big open world lets you think you'r way around the enemies or you can hack through them with chainsaw hoping it wont broke up when you are in the middle of horde of zombies since if it happens you are dead meat.
It can be challenging or it can be the easiest game ever since you can spend those 3 days in the safehouse and complete the game that way too but all in all dead rising was and still is one of the greatest timekillers i own on any platform of games. Some minor problems doens't quite make the game justice tough."

"I liked it at first, but about 20% in it got too difficult for me and way too annoying. I really hate having to replay the same section over and over again, just because you fail to beat a boss at the end of it. And that is what takes up a lot of your Dead Rising playing time: getting back from your latest save point to some location at the other end of the mall where you have to complete some mission. Something that could have easily been fixed by letting you save anywhere, anytime, the game is hard enough as it is. But no, the developers decided that you are only able to save your game in bathrooms, spread thinly over the mall (by having a piss!). Hey thanks...
For me, it ruined an otherwise perfect game. It looks great, plays well, has diverse missions and an interesting story line. So if you like your games to offer a bit of a challenge, this may be a good one for you."
