Rowdy on Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway [Xbox 360], 13-10-2008
"Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway let's you, once again, step into the combat boots of sergeant Matt Baker.
Gameplay wise it's more of the same when compared to previous titles. You have one group of men at your disposal to supress the enemy, and one group of men to flank and attack the enemy. Each level offers a series of tactical puzzles for you to solve. Unfortunately it takes only a few tries to know how to best use your tactics, and therefore clear a level, as most of the enemies appear at the same place each time you try. The fact that enemy A.I. isn't very bright also doesn't do this game justice.
But it isn't all about ordering your men around. Every now and then you're on your own clearing a building, and one particular level even let's you drive around in a tank, shooting stuff. While this is fun for a while, it soon becomes linear. Just like the addition of a boring and bland multiplayer mode it just feels like it's been put in there to make it look like Hell's Highway has a lot of variety to offer.
Fortunately Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway excels in the action and storyline area. The possibility to take cover behind destructible objects is done well and really adds tension to the gameplay. Apart from some of the scripted events mentioned earlier, it really feels like you're "there", on the battleground.
In the end Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway is a worthy addition to the series, although it looks a bit dated. You can't go wrong if you enjoyed the previous installments in this series, but take in consideration that there are better - and older - games available."
