Description

Wii Sports offers five distinct sports experiences, each using the Wii Remote to provide a natural, intuitive and realistic feel. Players can use their own Mii caricatures in the game and play them against their friends' Miis for a more personalized experience. As players improve, their Miis' skill levels will increase, so that they can see exactly how much better they've become.

  • Tennis (1-4 players): Players grab the Wii Remote like a racket and swing – the game registers forehands, backhands, volleys, lobs, slices, spin and power depending on how fast the user swings and at what angle. Don't worry about moving around the court to get to the ball – the game automatically moves players into position.

  • Baseball (1-2 players): Players grip the Wii Remote like a bat and swat fastballs out of the park, or fire a fastball over the plate with a flick of their wrist. Timing and bat speed will make all the difference between going yard and whiffing, so keep an eye on the ball and swing for the fences. In the two-player game, one player pitches and the other bats – all fielding and running is automatic, so that players can focus on the action.

  • Golf (1-4 players): Step up to the tee, hold the Wii Remote like a golf club and swing naturally to smack the ball onto the green. The harder players swing the club, the farther the ball will fly. Be careful, though – if players swing too hard, their ball will fly out of control, so they should be sure to take some practice swings before going for the pin. After reaching the green, line up putts carefully, practice the stroke and try to hole out.

  • Bowling (1-4 players): Players raise the Wii Remote in their hand just like a bowling ball, and then swing their arms to roll the ball. The speed of the swing and the angle at which they release the ball affects the ball's spin, so it will take some practice to master control over the ball and knock down the pins.

  • Boxing (1-2 players): Using the Nunchuk controller as one glove and the Wii Remote as the other, players dodge, weave and punch their opponents. Players hold their hands high to guard their faces or low to block their torsos. They punch high to hit their opponents' faces or low to get under their guard for a body blow. Swing both arms left or right to sidestep oncoming blows and move into position for a devastating knockout.

"This one is included with your Wii, and if you're lucky enough to live in the States, you didn't get a nice white keepcase with it. Congrats to you. The EUR version of the Wii did, and I'm happy with it. I don't understand why the US version didn't.

Wii Sports is the second game to enter my Wii, and it was instant fun. Again you play with your Mii character which you can create on your Wii, and bring to your friends by saving it on your own Wii-Mote. We started of with tennis. It became clear you had to stand up to enjoy this game the most. We all stood up (we were with 3 people) and without any instructions on screen we started to play. Hows that for intuitive? To serve the ball you either press a button and hit the ball, or move the Wii-Mote up as if you would throw the ball in the air and then smash it to the other side by throwing your arm in that direction. It matters if you twist your Wii-Mote, and also if you do a backhand or forehand (forhand?). You can play two Mii's at the same time, or be in a team with your friend. A.I. play is possible as well.

I will not go in to all the other sports too much. Bowling is a fun game (although not so much appreciated by all my friends I must say) where you throw the ball and twist it to spin it. It works like a charm, the controller is doing all the work and you hardly need any explaining on how it will work. Golf is nice too and I think you can imagine how you have to hold, point and move your controller in that. It forgives small twists and makes the golf game not to hard to play (luckily). It doesn't forgive too much (so no hole-in-one the first time round), just enough to let you get PAR. I didn't like baseball too much, I just can't seem to do it right. It's all about timing your swing, and I guess I suck at it. Played it once, never tried my hands on it again.

Boxing, now that's a whole other story. You plugin your nunchuck in the controller (ofcourse your opponent doing the same), and you get ready. I loved it. You punch left, right, defend, defend to left and right, give upper and lower punches. It works! And it's soo much fun to see your friends punching at nothing. You actually need some tactic to win boxing, not just randomly punch. You have to know what the Wii reacts to. It's not that hard to learn, you will figure it out after one game.

Then there's training mode to train you in sports (I only did tennis there) and you can set some records. Pretty basic, but fun enough to check it out. Also there's an option where you can calculate your 'Sports-Age' or something like that. You go trough various exercises (bowling/tennis/baseball/golf) and it will calculate your age. Keep this up every day and you will get a lower age (which is better).

Sports will send you updates on what records you've set, and what records your family have beaten you on when they've played.

I'm giving this 4 out of 5. Everyone loves tennis, they really do. Everyone wants to start with a game of tennis when they come to play on the Wii. Or they want to end with it. It indeed has no extra courses, and the graphs are pretty simple. This doesn't spoil the fun for me, and only makes me wish for a tennis game. Only tennis. With simple graphics (maybe a bit better with the crowd, but still keeping the Mii's(!!!!!), but more game options (single tennis, different courses, tournaments etc.).

So if you bought your Wii and your Sports disc is broken, get this game :P"

"Wii Sports is a great game, I think they put a lot of work in it. Afcourse because it is a launche title (even included with the Wii)
so it must be perfect. You got tennis, baseball, bowling, boxing and golf. I like tennis and bowling the most, tennis works perfect you can give fast balls, slow balls or even spin on it. And however everyone can play it at the beginning you'll find out that there is a lot of tactic in it. Same goes for bowling, the more you play the better you get like twisting the wiimote at the end of the swing and give some spin on the bowling ball.
I think this game is obviously the funniest multiplayer game till now on the Wii.
Well not much to say about buy it yes or no, because you got it included in you're wii pack. mmm maybe a good tip, buy some extra wiimotes !!! (not if you got cool friends that own thereselfs a Wii with there own Mii character that makes it even more fun)
Ill rate it a 4 out of 5, and that is because I wanted that they would have included other playfields for tennis, because every game the same is boring :p

Neway, very good game overall :D"
