AJMouse on Gottlieb Pinball Classics [Wii], 03-02-2007
"I just played Super Fruit Fall for a little over an hour, and I must say that Gottlieb Pinball Classics came as a light breeze. It’s not a great game, no sir, but it costs half of what top-titles cost, and I guess it’s worth just that.
You get 11 tables to play (tables Gottlieb considers them among the best they ever created) all with different themes. Each table comes with a very handy instruction on how to earn bonuses on the table, multi-ball and other goals. I found this to be very handy cause usually I just shoot the ball and see what happens (it took me quite some time to figure out how that Windows Pinball table worked, FYI, hehe).
Earning credits playing these machines enables you to try out some other machines as well like a fortune-teller or a love-o-meter. I didn’t really understand why it would be fun to do so other than earning credits. It’s basically gambling.
Each pinball table comes with a million different camera-angle. I don’t like that. It’s not my job to make the angle in a game good. I couldn’t choose, I was switching camera-angles more than I was flippin’ my flippers just because I couldn’t choose. I tried one table with the default angle, didn’t work. Tried it again with the complete overview, again no cigar.
In the end, it’s worth it’s money, the tables are fun, the game-modes are okay and to be honest it really feels like playing pinballs if you hold the controller right. I’m just not going to order you to get it as I would with some other titles.
