Rowdy on Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1 [PlayStation 2], 31-10-2008
"Retro gaming is hot these days, but does that make this game a must-buy?
The first impression I had of Capcom Classics Collection Vol.1 was a good one. There are a lot of classic arcade titles to choose from. Popular games like Ghost 'n Goblins, Mercs, Forgotten Worlds, 1942 and Street Fighter 2 are all present. What's even more interesting is the fact that Capcom also included some of their lesser known games, like Trojan, Section Z and Vulgus, their first video game ever. Cool!
What's even more cool about this package is that pretty much every game genre is present. From the horizontal-, and vertical scrolling shooter to the sidescrolling platformer or one-on-one beat 'm up. It's all there!
It shows that Capcom took great care into making this Classics Collection special, because they implented some very nice extras. Each game comes with some interesting background information and besides that, you get enough options to tweak the gameplay anyway you like: set up the difficulty level, the amount of bonus levels, controller set-up, size of the screen, you name it. All games even come with unlockable extras so you just want to keep playing and playing. I own my copy a couple of years now and I still pick it up sometimes.
For me it's clear as crystal. Besides having plenty of games, this piece of history has a lot of variation and brilliant gameplay to offer you. Capcom managed to succesfully port all what made these games classic, and managed to stuff it all into one game. As a result you can't possibly go wrong with this awesome game. It definitely should deserve a place in every gamers collection."
