Tex Visser on F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin [PC], 18-03-2009
"This game is scary! They say you get the best experience when playing in the dark. With that they probably mean you will pee in you're pants too. It's THAT scary.
The game continues where the first game - and all its spin-offs - left off. Alma is still controlling replica soldiers, and you and you're team have to find a way to neutralize her.
The story is pretty linear, you are being sent from one spot to another, while once in a while being scared to death by Alma. You frequently hear chatter of your teammates on your radio, hearing them say they heared a crying woman or whatsoever. This really adds to the atmosphere.
F.E.A.R. is known for "bullet time", which means you can play in slow-motion for a few seconds (depending if you found the upgrades). F.E.A.R. was one of the first with this concept that really added something to the game. When you throw a grenade and press the slo-mo button, you'll see a shockwave first and an explosion next.
Anyway, while this game is nice, it's not so great. The controls work well, but only after I have mapped them myself. I have played F.E.A.R. 2 on PC because I just like First Person Shooters more on PC. Mouse and keyboard just feel better. I must say though, standards for PC gaming are getting higher, so if you want to play F.E.A.R. 2 on a high resolution, I suggest that you make sure your PC can handle it.
All in all, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is a decent game. It's not great, but not bad either. You will be scared once in a while...especially when playing in the dark."
