Description

March, 2047. A massive nuclear fireball explodes high in the night sky, marking the dramatic beginning to the Third Tiberium War and long-awaited return of the most groundbreaking Real-time Strategy franchise (RTS) of all time.

In 2047, Tiberium has blanketed the Earth, which is now divided into zones based on the level of Tiberium infestation. Pristine Blue Zones represent 20% of the planet's surface and are the last refuge of the civilized world. Partially habitable Yellow Zones make up 50% of the planet's surface; most of the world's population lives in these war-torn and ecologically ravaged areas. The remaining 30% of the planet is uninhabitable, a Tiberium wasteland swept by violent Ion Storms. Red Zones are like the surface of an Alien planet.

The infamous Kane has returned to lead the Brotherhood of Nod in a massive global assault on the Global Defense Initiative and the few remaining Blue zones left on the planet. Only you can stop him. The fate of humanity - and the planet - is in your hands.

Featuring state-of-the-art, next-generation graphics, an epic story with live action video sequences featuring top Hollywood actors, and the classic fast-paced C&C style of play, C&C 3 sets the standard for the single player RTS experience.

"This review can contain spoilers! You're warned.

Back with an updated review, I still agree on all points with myself (posted below). I have played about 5 hours now I think with the GDI campaigns only. I'd like to take NODs side when I'm done. So you could say I haven't been able to check everything out just yet, but I do feel I can review it.

I thought I was nearing the end of the game when I was playing the mission I completed a few days ago. It was a tough mission where I needed to infiltrate a huge NOD base. Pretty hard! After this, a cut scene (and so far I love 'em all :D actresses and actors from my favourite shows!), and the invasion began! So this is how the story is going to continue. I'm glad it's not a short game, and I can't wait to play online after completing the story mode. Thing is, I don't feel like crawling behind my pc-screen every time because last time I did that, I suddenly lost 2 hours of my life. Time flies when playing this!

My friends and I discussed this game earlier this week, and they all feel there should be a classic CNC coming out, the one where you cant turn buildings 360 degrees and where you know the differences between the tanks (light, medium, heavy, mammoth). We all agreed, that would be great. But we also concluded that it isn't a possibility because that’s just the way new graphics are. If you want old school, get the old game and play that, and stop whining. There are plenty of user made maps out there, it should still be fun!

So anyway, this game still has a lot to offer me, not to mention all the online hours that I still want to make, hehe. I stick to my 8. You should get this.

"I thought I'd write some sort of preview-review here until I get the game, cause yeah, I'm gonna get it, and so should you :).

I recieved the demo (freely available at the official site I think) a week or two ago, and started playing the missions I was allowed to do (a tutorial and the first mission). Also a skirmish mission was playable.

Some say that the Generals game in the series was a mistake, but I liked it just fine. Some would argue that CNC3 is basically a polished version of Generals. I don't entirely agree. Sure the feel you get with the buildings and way of playing is the same, and that is because I believe it has been built on the same engine as Generals.

That out of the way, I wasn't able to check out the entire unit/building tree but it looks like it's pretty big. I played with the GDI as it seemed to be my only option. You have your basic power plant and tiberium scrapers etc. There seem to be quite some new units and vehicles to play around with, I liked the idea of mecha's.. hehe. I got to built 3 of em, they're walking robots (possibly with a human in them to control them) with very powerful weapons. It's just that.. when I went to do battle somewhere else on the field, and I got back to them, they got destroyed. But they didn't blow up, they just fell down. I think they're repairable, cause other units just disappear when they die or get destroyed. Something to check out later.

Playing the mission was fun too. Oldschool style it started out with a movie combining computer graphics with real people in a real set. In case you didn't know already, the cast features some big stars! It has people from the hitseries Lost, Battlestar Galactica and more in them! With a big war still going on, the earth is barely habitable with all the Tiberium everywhere. This looks like the whole game setting, were it not that the trailer (which can be seen when the demo starts) reveals some sort of alien race invading earth interfering with the war between NOD and GDI. I'm not very thrilled about alien races in RTS games, and I've always tried to *not* play alien RTS games. I always think of them as not very realistic (I do like futuristic techniques with human groups like NOD or GDI) with the slimy grow stuff and big animals and what have you. Still, I don't think CNC3 will be too bad with this extra race.

I'm looking forward to playing the missions, and I will give my review after completing both NOD and GDI missions after the game hits my store. I will also try to play some on-line. Don't know if the alien race has a storymode of their own, but I'll try to complete that too before writing a review, if it's there :)

For now, this looks very promising and I will give it an 8. Go download, it's free :)"
