"Believe it or not my first Tomb Raider game was Legend. It was a lot of fun, if not tedious at times. Then I played Anniversary and I completely fell in love with Miss Croft. So, when I saw this early Tomb Raider game listed on eBay I quickly snapped it up.

I should have stuck with the later games. Last Revelation is horrid. Ten minutes into playing I was ready to turn the machine off. Two big problems get in the way of enjoying the game. Firstly, the control system. Trying to move Lara is like trying to move a house by carrying it in your arms. It's impossible to get her to go where you want.

The next hurdle is how dark the game is. Honestly, I had the brightness turned up fill tilt and I still couldn't see the screen properly which resulted in me running aimlessly though the dark trying to find the next switch to open another door.

Which brings me to another problem; for Lara to interact with anything she has to be placed just-so for the action command to work. And with a control scheme as bad as this one, that is no mean feat. It takes you five minuets to pick up a health pack.

The bits of the game you can actually see look horrid. It's bland environments and terrible character models have you flitting from one room to the next rather than taking in your surroundings.

After reading this it may not surprise you that I didn't bother to travel past the third mission. A broken control system in a game in which you can't even see where you are going does not make for a fun time.

Moments before typing this I placed the game back where it found it - on eBay."
