Plot: In the wake of Siryn's attack, the mutants of X-Factor aren't united in how to respond. But as they argue, Rictor lays the blame for Siryn's attack square at Layla's feet. With all the 'stuff' Layla knows, she must have known about the impending attack on Theresa, and did nothing to prevent it.

But while the fallout from this argument continues, Layla is found by the administrator of the orphanage she lived at following the death of her parents. Rahne and Jamie, both orphans themselves, track her down to make sure she's alright.

Plot: X-Factor has crossed paths with their rivals, Singularity Investigations, one time too many prompting one of it's high-ranking leaders, Damian Tryp Jr., to deliver a savage beating to Siryn not two blocks from X-Factor's base. But when Rictor passes the scene of the attack, looking to join her for some breakfast she's nowhere to be seen.

When he can't find her at the diner she said she was going to, he begins doubling back to find some sign of her. But she's been abducted by a former mutant with a very large grudge against those who still have their powers.

Plot: Jamie Madrox' X-Factor Investigations already has a good deal of trouble. One of their clients has been accused of murdering her sister, Strong Guy and Wolfsbane are in the middle of a full-fledged riot, and an assassin dispatched by rival group, Singularity Investigations, is now dead on the kitchen floor.

Amidst all these events is Layla Miller, a young girl with an uncanny knowledge of things that haven't yet happened. She has to prevent them from learning the truth about M-Day, for fear of what the outcome of that knowledge would mean for the future.

Plot: Siryn and Madrox are awakened in the middle of the night to shocking news. Their most recent client, a girl who learned that her sister was having an affair with a movie star, has been arrested for her sister's murder. Now the pair rush to the scene, only to once again find themselves thwarted by an agent of Singularity Investigations.

Back in what remains of Mutant Town Guido, Rictor and Rahne find a group of bigots assaulting a man. They run the group off, but find themselves in the middle of a riot. And in the midst of all this chaos, Layla Miller is still at X-Factor's offices, claiming to 'know stuff'. And the stuff she knows could mean life or death for X-Factor.

Plot: A case that X-Factor investigations is looking into has just gone belly-up and the signs point to interference from another PI agency called 'Singularity'. While Siryn wants to head straight in and start busting heads, she's persuaded onto a different course by the mysterious Layla Miller, who 'knows stuff'.

Rictor, who was pushed off a ledge he was planning to jump from by one of Jamie's duplicates, is rescued mid-fall by M. Dispite her invitation, he's still determined to have nothing to do with X-Factor... until he also listens to Layla Miller.

Plot: Overnight, 90% of the world's mutants woke up as baseline humans. Rictor, long associated with the mutant superhero teams surrounding the X-Men, is taking this loss particularly hard. While most thought he just caused earthquakes, his powers actually made him feel as though he were part of the Earth.

But his old comrade Jamie Madrox saw him up on the ledge. He's put together a mutant detective agency, and he's thinking that even without powers, Rictor could be an asset. Sending one of his duplicates over to talk Rictor off the ledge, he doesn't realize that the duplicate is as unpredictable as Madrox is himself.
