Plot: A century ago, an obscure writer in British-controlled India named Rudyard Kipling is approached by the mysterious Mr. Locke. Wanting to patron the writer's patriotic voice in favor of the British Empire, Locke makes arrangements that cause Kipling to become the voice of his time. But a meeting with Samuel Clemens leads Kipling to suspect Locke's motives as well as the actions he'll undertake to achieve his aims.
Defiance has a price, however. Refusing to bow to Locke's requests any longer, he takes up a literary war against Imperialism, and the secret cabal that had made use of his talent... until the personal tragedies his family faces grow too great.

He's come to the villa where he last saw his father in search of some papers from early on in his life. But the housekeeper who would have them isn't here at the moment. Plot: In the aftermath of an attempt on his life, as well as the recent allegations that he's not actually the son of vanished novelist Wilson Taylor, Tom wants to find the truth. His attempts to locate the enigmatic Lizzie Hexam hit a dead end, prompting him to visit his father's mistress... someone he hasn't had a good relationship with. She recommends that he speak to his father's old housekeeper who should have some of his documents from the early period of his life.
But Tom's journey is being managed by someone else. A mysterious group is trying to strip the world of it's belief that Tom Taylor is, in fact, Tommy Taylor... the protagonist from Wilson Taylor's novels.
And back in London, Wilson Taylor's editors have just received a new manuscript.

Plot: Tom Taylor is the son of Wilson Taylor, an ultra-successful novelist whose series of books about a boy wizard (based on his son Tom) has swept the world by storm. But after vanishing, apparently abandoning his son, Tom Taylor wants little more than to shake off his father's books and be his own man. But there's something not quite right about Tom Taylor. Many elements about his life and his background don't seem to add up. Questioning at a convention panel leads to an international furor where he is declaimed as a fraud. But when the evil vampire from his Dad's books kidnaps him, intending to kill him on a live internet feed, he finds himself closer to his fictional namesake than he's comfortable with.
