Plot: Thanos has built an army out of Earth's heroes and sent them to invade and burn another world. However, Reed managed to fake his own death, and comes back with the rest of the FF to finish things. With Thanos being the only one in direct contact with the cosmic cube, things appear hopeless. Their hopelessness, however, depends on the idea that Reed didn't think about or prepare for an eventuality such as this.

The phrase "Reed didn't think" is rarely an accurate description in any situation.

Alternative Plot: With the help of Ben and Atrea, Reed heads back to Earth. Once there, Ben distracts Thanos while Reed gets back in contact with the Cosmic Cube and starts to undo some of the damage Thanos has caused. He still needs to find a way to wrest control over the Cube away from Thanos and back to himself.

During the chase, the Red Ghost activates a countdown timer that will set off the nuclear failsafe device in one of the remaining Crimson Dynamo armours. While the timer is counting down, Reed, Ben and Johnny enter the facility, fighting the Super Apes while Sue takes on the Red Ghost. The battle is ended when the armour detonates, and the only confirmed survivors are the Fantastic Four and their ally Igor Kragoff. (They do acknowledge that the Red Ghost's abilities may have allowed her to survive as well.) Reed and Sue discuss their relationship on the way home, only to be interrupted by the discovery of a giant energy cube surrounding New York City.

Plot: Doom, inhabiting Reed's body, exorcises the demon in Johnny improperly, trapping him in the physical plane instead of sending him into the N-Zone. It possesses the most powerful being it can find in this reality, which is the real Reed, trapped in Victor's body. He executes a plan to deal with the Zombies in either dimension, but Victor switches them back before he can make such a noble sacrifice.
