Plot: DC presents three short tales of The Spirit. In Harder Than Diamonds, a cab driver is accused of having stolen a rich socialites diamonds but The Spirit thinks that the crime has wrapped itself up a bit too neatly. Determined to follow his nose, he makes his way past the spotlights and paparazzi to dig a little deeper, and maybe save an innocent man from some prison time. In Synchronicity, The Spirit pursues a petty thief through an old apartment building on a hot Summer day. But unknown to both the pursuer, and the pursued, the chase turns up one good outcome after another for the residents of the tenament. And in Hard Cell, The Spirit investigates a series of murders of domestic servants. The only link between them all is the movie actress for whom they all worked.

An anime-style representation of the Spirit is being used by Carrion to sell baked beans dosed with extra sugar to children whose parents are too lazy to read the ingredients. But when the Cossack learns that two of his henchmen are assisting Carrion, and that the beans are former Soviet military rations, Carrion will need the Spirit's help to get out of his problems.
