Plot: The Avengers face off against the rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. battlion, and succeed primarily because Sauron wasn't as dead as they all thought he was. (A bullet through the head just isn't as effective as it used to be.) They learn that this battalion has enslaved the native peoples, and was using them to mine vibranium to stockpile for illegal weapons. Before they could break it up on their own, the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier attacks and wipes out the installation in one salvo. Iron Man's armour protects the group, and Director Hill transports them safely away. Once they reach safety, they learn from Tony that the S.H.I.E.L.D. files they've been given were tampered with, and that the list of villains in the Raft include 14 individuals who were officially dead.

Plot: Having learned that the breakout at the Raft was the result of an attempt to free Karl Lykos, also known as the dinosaur mutant Sauron out, the New Avengers are quickly underway to the Savage Land where Lykos normally operates. Their trip is compounded by the fact that a S.H.I.E.L.D. outpost there has gone offline, an unprecendented event.

But even with Wolverine bolstering their ranks, can the New Avengers stand against the might of the Savage Land mutates?

Alternative Plot: The team arrives in the Savage Land, with the usual friendly greetings. They are joined by Wolverine just before they are captured by mutates, who bring them into captivity with Sauron and Brainchild. Thankfully, though they are all stripped of equipment and uniforms, Tony's armour responds to voice commands, and puts itself back together to break them out. Just when they get the situation under wraps and Sauron is about to explain why he was freed, a S.H.I.E.L.D. unit under the command of the new Black Widow (Yelena Bolova) kill Sauron and turns their weapons on the Avengers.

Plot: With grudging acceptance from S.H.I.E.L.D. Special Agent Maria Hill, the New Avengers have gained access to the agency's files on the Raft breakout. The small amount of security footage that was restored reveals that Electro was behind the breakout.

The New Avengers have tracked him to Boston, but can they get him to give up his employer?

Alternative Plot: The newly formed team use security footage and Tony Stark's technology to track down Electro after learning he caused the breakout. After capturing him and handing him over to S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, it is learned that he was hired specifically to break out Sauron. The team heads to the Savage Land on Sauron's trail.

Plot: Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson, and Luke Cage come to "the Raft," a high security prison designed to hold supervillains. This happens to be the same day that Electro is hired by persons unknown to break all of the supervillains out of said prison. Electro manages to do so, leaving the island covered with escaped supervillains, none of whom will be friendly to Matt, Foggy, Luke, Jessica Drew (a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent), Sentry (a hero imprisoned for killing his wife), Spider-Man or Captain America (both of whom showed up when they saw the explosion Electro caused.)
