Plot: As Joe Dunn rests in McKinnon's bar, Charles Morrison, a wealthy railroad owner arrives to stay at the hotel along with his beautiful young wife. His bodyguard recognises Dunn and Morrison, a fan of Dunn's, introduces himself though Dunn is not impressed. Finding out from McKinnon that his ex-girlfriend is a doctor in town, Dunn goes to speak with her and discovers he has a nineteen year old daughter who refuses to speak with him. As Dunn returns to the inn, he is confronted by a maimed sodbuster who has walked into town despite his injuries; together, Dunn and McKinnon recognise the handiwork of a half-breed named Red Crow.

He helps Pete bury his brother and the pair journey to Gladback where McKinnon turns out to be an old friend of Dunn's.
