Plot: The Unbound, an army who were once the free people of Myrra are attempting to break into our world. At the same time, Enchantress, Laura Fell and Zauriel are attempting to enter Myrra to find their absent comrades. Breaking through, the members of Shadowpact inadvertantly open the way for the Unbound.

While most of the team guards the portal to prevent the Unbound from traveling through, Enchantress helps Nightmaster enact a deserate plan... one that will destroy the threat of the Unbound forever!

Plot: The world of Myrra is the one in which Jim Rook first became Nightmaster. Now ravaged by the Unbound, it has been ravaged almost beyond his recognition. A group of fugitive children lead he and his companions to Marrin, the last adult free of the Unbound who explains the dark fate this world has experienced since Jim was last there.Meanwhile, the rest of the Shadowpact work to discover the location of their teammates, and then to bridge the gulf that separates them... which may well be the worst thing that they could do as the Unbound themselves are trying to reach Earth.

Plot: The Shadowpact has split up to deal with several different threats, but that may be their undoing. Nightmaster, Nightshade and Ragman find themselves trapped in the shadow dimension that Nightshade travels through, and when several of the denizens knock her out, they find themselves unable to return.Enchantress tries to train Laura Fell, against her own wishes, but Dr. Gotham's young protege threatens to steal Laura right out from under the Enchantress' watchful eye... and feed her to the Sun King.

Plot: At times, the task of reigning in the new, wild forces of the Ninth Age of Magic seems to be never ending. Just as the Shadowpact returns to the Oblivion Bar from stopping the Houngan and his army of zombies, they find they have to set out to stop some magical bank robbers who have taken hostages. In an attempt to accomplish more, the team splits up. As most of the Shadowpact departs to deal with the bank robbers, Enchantress is given a task she wants no part of... teaching the Warlock's Daughter, Laura Fell.

Plot: With an active volcano in the heart of Chicago, the Shadowpact struggle to save as many lives as they can. While Nightshade and Detective Chimp use her ability to transport as many buildings and civilians as they can to the Nightshade Dimension, other members of the team attack Dr Gotham.Other heroes arrive on the scene to help control the damage.In hell, Blue Devil's lawyer discovers that Devil's brother - Jack of Flame - had already sold Devil's soul to hell thus countering his argument.Blue Devil himself has been granted an exorcism by the Catholic church but before they will do that, the priest in charge issues a challenge: survive thirteen labours and he will perform the exorcism. The first is to confront the Homo Magi and prevent them taking over the world.Back in Chicago, the team defeat Dr Gotham, forcing him to transport himself away from the city.

Plot: As Blue Devil and his lawyer travel to the infernal depths to learn the fate of Daniel's family, and begin proceedings for breach-of-contract against the Devil, the rest of Shadowpact alongside their newest member, Zauriel, are drawn into conflict with the mysterious Doctor Gotham, an immensely powerful combat sorcerer. Tasked by his master, The Sun King, to destroy the Shadowpact Gotham pulls out all the stops, raising a massive volcano in the middle of downtown Chicago.
Alternative Plot: Dr Gotham holds a bus load of school children hostage in Chicago, demanding to speak to the Shadowpact.In Hell, Blue Devil confronts his parents who claim that he does indeed have a brother, Jack of Fire, and a sister, Mary, that he has completely forgotten about. Meanwhile, his lawyer meets the rulers of Hell in an attempt to win back Blue Devil's soul.In Chicago, the Shadowpact arrive and, as Nightshade and Detective Chimp free the children, the rest of the team attack Dr Gotham, surpising him by actually hurting him. In retaliation, Gotham raises a volcano in the heart of the city which promptly erupts.

Plot: The Heavenly Hosts have declared that as Hell's most prominent ambassador to Earth, Blue Devil must be killed. Zauriel, the Angel and former Justice League member, has been dispatched to see Heaven's will is carried out. But once he understands the situation, to Zauriel's surprise, the Blue Devil accepts Heaven's judgement. Because of his unusual level of cooperation, Zauriel judges that they have a few days' grace period before the judgement must be carried out. Not wanting to die, Cassidy begins to see what steps he might be able to take to save not only his life, but also his immortal soul.
Alternative Plot: Zauriel attacks Blue Devil in the Oblivion Bar as he has been charged with killing him. Eddie Deacon breaks up the fight, however, and they retire to a mountain outside Coast City where Blue Devil asks Zauriel why he hadn't killed him straight away. When Zauriel admits misgivings in his mission, Blue Devil attempts to find a way to prevent his death.Dr Gotham talks with the Sun King who tells him to destroy the Shadowpact sooner rather than later.Detective Chimp gets out of hospital and returns to the bar.Blue Devil publicly denounces the way he received his powers, warning fans not to sell their souls. A lawyer, hearing the broadcast, tells Devil that he can beat the forces of hell as they had reneged on their part of the contract.Dr Gotham emperils a schholbus as bait for the Shadowpact.Blue Devil tells the rest of the team he is quitting but they refuse to accept his resignation; instead, Nightmaster accepts a leave of absence and insists that Zauriel take Devil's place.

Plot: Thus far, the Shadowpact has avoided the fate of all other groups that have taken the name, that fate being to take up hopeless causes, resulting in the team's death. They have fought the Spectre to a stand-still, and even managed to hault Etrigan the demon, so it's understandable that the team might think that they've overcome their own shaky start. But even as the team battles a reawakend god in Louisiana, forces are aligning against them across the globe. Karnevil, one of the captive members of the Pentacle and a vicious and brilliant sociopath, has escaped the custody of Lord Colddrake. The enigmatic Dr. Gotham, whom the Pentacle served, has succeeded where his minions failed in conjuring his deity, The Sun King into our world. And Zauriel, God's angel turned hero, has been dispatched with the grim task of bringing death to the Blue Devil.
Alternative Plot: As the Shadowpact battle a monster, the attention moves to the activities of their enemies.Imprisoned in Lord Coldrake's tower sincethe Shadowpact's first adventure, Karnevil finally escapes back to Earth.In order to summon the tiniest part of the Sun King, Dr Gotham sacrifices his trusted aide Strega, killing her so that his master can materialise on Earth.Zauriel is contacted by another angel and told to kill Blue Devil as, despite his good deeds, he has been judged to be a bad influence upon others.

Plot: At the moment of his impending death, Nightmaster recalls the life that has brought him to this cusp of his existence. As his spirit leaves his body, he meets the spirit of his Father, only to learn that it had been bound into the Sword of Night. His father had been Night Master, and the mantle was passed to Jim when his Father fell.The very sword that has pierced him has the power to prevent his death... but only if he embraces his legacy, and everything that goes with it.
Alternative Plot: As Nightmaster lays dying, pierced by his own sword, he reminisces about his early life in his own mind. Blue Devil, meanwhile, gathers the rest of the Shadowpact at Enchantress's suggestion as her spell keeping Nightmaster alive is fading.Her spell fading, Nightmaster leaves his body only to be confronted by the spirit of his father who tells him that he can continue to live if he merely connects with the spirit of his sword who, it turns out, was Nightmaster's father all along.Nightmaster returns to his body and pulls his sword out of his body and joins his friends in celebrating his return.

Plot: Following their initial disastrous encounter with the Demon Etrigan, the Shadowpact are splintered. Nightmaster and Detective Chimp are injured, Enchantress is forced to use her own life energy to maintain a spell keeping Nightmaster alive, and the spirits inhabiting Ragman's suit are more frightened of Etrigan than of remaining trapped for eternity. So Blue Devil, newly demoted to the rhyming caste of demons, has recruited others to help him in retrieving the Lucifer Trident, taken from him by Etrigan.
Alternative Plot: As Nightmaster still lays mortally wounded and protected only by Enchantress' spell, the Shadowpact travel to Hell to regain Blue Devil's trident from Etrigan. They find the demon and his army on the plains of Pandemonium and engage them in battle, the Midnight Rider revealing that his guns turn his victims to stone. Archeron manifests people's fears and for the demons, materialises angels. The confusion allows Blue Devil to attack Etrigan and take his trident back before escaping via Nightshade's shadow portals.Vortigar, Blue Devil's new demonic servant, is brought before the ruler of Hell and forced to reveal that it was he who first pitched Etrigan against Shadowpact in the hope that Blue Devil would be killed and Vortigar himself demoted to rhyming class demon. Hell's ruler, however, merely condemns him to his servitude.Enchantress is still stuck treating Nightmaster, her spell of protection the only thing preventing his death.Ragman finds himself praying to god to let Nightmaster live.Shadowpact return from Hell celebrating their success but find Etrigan has followed them. Before he can do much harm however, Midnight Rider shoots him, turning him to stone. As the spell wears off only at sunrise - and as the Oblivion Bar exists in an enclosed dimension where no sun rises - it is possible that Etrigan may be stuck as a statue forever.

Plot: Ragman journeys to the Dark Tower to free the Warlock's Daughter and, along with Nightshade, returns to the Oblivion Bar. Nightmaster is still mortally wounded, only kept from dying by the Enchantress's constant spell weaving which in turn is weakening her. Blue Devil is approached by Vortigar, a demon who claims he is now Blue Devil's servant. The members of Shadowpact decide to return to Hell to reclaim Lucifer's trident from Etrigan and recruit new members Midnight Rider and Acheron. The Warlock's Daughter volunteers as well.In Hell, Etrigan rallies as many demons to his cause as he can now that he holds Lucifer's trident.

Plot: As Jim Rook argues with Eddie Deacon, the current proprietor of the Oblivion Bar over who owns the pocket dimension, Dr. Gotham's forces move into action. The Wild Huntsman attacks Ragman and Enchantress, quickly overpowering them and adding them to his pack. But when Blue Devil and Nightshade arrive to help them, will they recognize their friends?

Plot: As the dome surrounding the town of Riverrock comes down, the media are quickly on the scene. The members of the Shadowpact struggle to come to grips with the fact that while only a few days have passed for them, that a year has passed in the rest of the world. As the members of the team attempt to resume their lives, they're shocked to find the consequences of being missing for a year. Many of them are homeless, and someone else has re-opened the Oblivion Bar in Nightmaster's absence.As the members of Shadowpact try to get their lives in order, Strega returns to Gotham, and awakens her master who has been slumbering beneath the city since before it was even built.

Plot: Many groups over history have taken the name of the Shadowpact, and almost all of them have been destined to only take up lost causes. This particular incarnation, however, was instrumental in stopping the Spectre's rampage against all things magical. The Phantom Stranger wonders if this particular group can avoid the fate usually reserved for the Shadowpact in the way that the Blue Devil defies his own nature to be a hero.The Blue Devil has settled into a neighborhood in Metropolis, where he's been embraced as the neighborhood hero. As he heads out meet the rest of the Shadowpact at the Oblivion Bar he gets sidetracked and attacked by the Demonic Retrieval Corps. But as he battles demons, dragons and muggers... can anybody just remember his name?
