Plot: Johnny's band has a gig on the Tonight Show, but before he can make it, he's attacked by Lightwave, Cindy, and others who capture him and tie him up next to Dr. Doom. Meanwhile, Alyssa Moy tells Sue that the plans for Nu-Earth are not nearly as noble as she was led to believe. Reed Richards is working on that problem, as well as tracking the Doom kidnapping, when Mrs. Deneuve comes to tell him something about Johnny.

He brings warnings that moving beyond those ideas drives Reed mad with power, leading to his dominance over the world. Desperate, Doom pleads for asylum with the current-era Fantastic Four claiming that their future-selves will torture or kill him. But who can the Fantastic Four believe? Doom's story is within the realm of possibility.

Plot: As the current lineup of the Fantastic Four relaxes following a confrontation with Galactus, Reed Richards makes a small detour from his second honeymoon with Sue on Titan when he detects a foreign object entering our solar system from hyperspace. Consulting with Hank Pym, he discovers a message with potentially cosmic consequences for the Earth. But even as he mobilizes the Fantastic Four to investigate the origin of the device, he receives a transmission from Titan. The Frightful Four have struck out at Sue while Reed was away.
