Plot: In his earlier days, Batman volunteered to assist in sensory deprivation research, shut away in an isolation chamber for days. The data gathered in that experiment was used in a joint project between the Gotham City Police Department and the US military. There was concern as to what would happen if the Batman's war on crime ever took his life.

In an attempt to build a contingency plan, three Gotham police officers were chosen in an attempt to train new Batmen that could be activated if the original was ever killed in action. Now Bruce Wayne is trapped, a prisoner of the third and most dangerous of those men.

But what does he want? And why have all three of these men struck so close together? And perhaps, most disturbingly, why didn't Bruce remember any of this?

Plot: Following the death of Bruce Wayne, Gotham City's Dark Knight, his son Damian rebels against his mother and takes up the mantle of the Bat.Years ago, Batman's Father fought two twisted versions of himself... one, a gun-wielding murderer and the other a muscular brute driven by the drug Venom. But Bruce Wayne perished before he could face the third of these twisted Batmen... one who would sell his soul to the devil and destroy Gotham City. Now, the task of preventing Gotham's destruction falls to Damian. It is a task he has been preparing for all his life. Now, despite being hunted by Police Commissioner Barbara Gordon, he has to figure out where to find this would-be antichrist. But as Bruce taught him well, victory is in preparation. And Damian is very well prepared for this conflict.

Plot: Early in the Dark Knight's career, when he and Robin encountered a crime that was inexplicable, usually involving ghosts, magic or aliens, they would record it in the Black Casebook. Two men that Batman has encountered recently have recalled one such adventure, in which Bruce was confronted with three versions of himself... a Batman who killed with a gun, a drug-fueled, bestial Batman... and a Batman who sold his soul to the devil and destroyed Gotham. The first Batman shot the Joker with a gun. Bruce barely evaded death at the hands of the second, who nearly broke his back as Bane once did. Both men are likely corrupt cops. But who is the third one... and is he destined to destroy Gotham?
