Breaking News! One of my most beloved video game characters is going to return. Forget last year’s boring movie, Max Payne 3 is going to set everything straight.

Today Rockstar Games finally announced that Max Payne is going to return. Hooray! The game is in development at the moment and is planned for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC near the end of this year.

Max Payne 3 is going to be developed by Rockstar Vancouver,  the same guys that developed the awesome Bully. According to Sam Houser, an aging and more cynical Max Payne has hit rock bottom and is going to need all his wits and experience for his struggle for truth and vengeance. Expect a non-stop action, slow-mo fest, combined with a gripping story line, lots of bullets and even more dead bodies.

As much as I enjoyed the previous games, I hope this time Max has the opportunity to interact a bit more with both the villains and the environment surrounding him. Maybe grabbing an enemy, kicking and punching them a few times,  then throwing them aside before shooting them to kingdome come. A sort of Max Payne meets Streets of Rage 2 or Final Fight.

Ah well, guess we have to wait untill the end of this year before we can find out then. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
