So, I was checking our All-Time Top 200 Most Popular Series. And, of course, it’s all Marvel and DC stuff. Actually: 95% of our All-Time Top 200 Series is published by Marvel or DC. Marvel’s absolutely the most popular (60%). And DC, including Vertigo and Wildstorm, is 2nd (35%). So, what’s the other 5%?

First we have Dark Horse Comics. Four Dark Horse series appear in our All-Time Top 200. It’s the newest monthly Buffy the Vampire Slayer run. The series continues where the tv-series stopped. And Buffy fans love this series. It equals the greatness of the tv-series. Well, I don’t read the series, but that’s the word on the street. The DH series Conan is also in our Top 200. Great art and stories in a series starring the classic barbarian: that works! The other popular DH series are Star Wars: Legacy and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. After all these Star Wars movies, spin-offs, novels, magazines, action figures, comics and whatever, these two DH runs are still popular. People will love Jedi’s and Wookies forever!

What’s next? Image Comics of course! Everybody knows Spawn. And everybody knows Witchblade. Both very popular already since the start of both series. Spawn is really dark and Witchblade is really sexy. Also popular is this series full of zombies. Nope, no Marvel Zombies stuff, we’re talking about Image. The Walking Dead.

Next publisher: Dynamite. The sexy Red Sonja is popular for decades. Remember that corny movie? Well, Dynamite is publishing the comics for a few years already and Sonja’s doing just fine. The adventures of the chick with red hair are selling. The 2nd popular Dynamite series wasn’t published by Dynamite one year ago, but who cares, it is still Dynamite. I’m talking about The Boys. New stuff, based on nothing, but still popular. That’s pretty unique.

One more publisher: IDW. The last non-Marvel-and-DC series in our All-Time Top 200 Most Popular Series… Angel: After the Fall. Starring… Angel!

Conclusion: almost all these series from these four publishers star classic well-known ‘icons’, ‘heroes’ and/or ‘titles’. Same with Marvel (X-Men, FF, Avengers, Spider-Man, Hulk) and DC (Batman, Superman, JLA). People still love (and buy) this well-known stuff. That’s for sure!
