I’ve been on vacation for the last two weeks and during these days I went out and visited some jumble sales in the area we stayed. The best part of visiting these sales is when you actually stumble on something nice, something you would never thought about finding there. Man, was I in for a treat…

For some reason I find it very entertaining and satisfying to wander around and look what sort of old and useless stuff people have on sale. During the first jumble sale we visited I came across an old man who had all of these old comics lying around for sale. My heart skipped a beat and I almost wet my pants. I soon saw myself leafing through a few small storages filled with comics until I came across a pile of superhero comics such as Superman, The Incredible Hulk, Spiderman and She-Hulk. I couldn’t believe my luck! It gets better though because later that day I took a closer look at the pile of comics I had purchased and suddenly I realised that I actually used to own this one particular comic, back when I was just a little kid!!

The story is about my most favourite superhero, the Incredible Hulk, who is offered the key of the city by the mayor of New York. He gets to meet a lot of fellow superheroes like Silver Surfer, Prince Namor, Ben Grimm, Black Bolt (not to offend anyone, but who the heck is that?) who all pay their respect to the Green Giant. Even The Watcher makes an appearance. It all start very friendly but later on The Leader makes an appearance and all is starting to fall apart… Brilliant story and even more brilliant artwork done by Sal Buscema, Bill Mantlo and Mark Gruenwald. I looked it up in our database and if I’m right then I’m talking about The Incredible Hulk #279 and The Incredible Hulk #280.

I admit I’m a bit of a nostalgia freak when it comes to these sort of sudden encounters, but damn!, I enjoyed every minute of reading that comic again!
