More Movie-based-on-Comic stuff

avatar.JPGI don’t know why, but everybody is making movies of comics these days. After, of course, the various Marvel and DC super-hero movies, now there’s also Wanted and Watchmen.

Already out in the USA, but in The Netherlands in cinema’s this Thursday: Wanted. Starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman and sexy Angelina Jolie. The comic series is written by Mark Millar. The man who wrote the main Marvel Comics Civil War story. Wanted is about a random office dude who finds out his killed father was a serial killer. This dude joins his father’s gang and there you go! The story is full of violence and action. Super-villains rule this world, there is no such things as a super-hero. Looks like a average cool action movie to me. Check some random Wanted issue covers:

Watchmen will be in cinemas in 2009. The comic series is written by Alan Moore, who also wrote V for Vendetta and some other very popular comic and movie stuff. What’s Watchmen about? Let’s quote the Wikipedia page: “Watchmen is set in 1985, in an alternate history of the United States where costumed adventurers are real and the country is edging closer to a nuclear war with the Soviet Union; throughout the books, the Doomsday Clock is shown gradually ticking towards midnight. It tells the story of a group of past and present heroes and superheroes and the events surrounding the mysterious murder of one of their own.” Well, sounds pretty cool in my opinion. Looking forward to this project. Check the famous original comic cover art:

Oh, I’ve finally seen The Dark Knight. This movie is really great. Not just really great, no: G-R-E-A-T. I you haven’t seen The Dark Knight yet: run to the cinema right now! Really, right now. ‘Cause if you like great movies, you’ll like this already-classic flick. The story, the action, the acting: everything is at least 8/10.

There’s also a Tintin movie in the making. Steven Spielberg is busy with this project. We’ll see…
