I was pretty amazed when I saw the recently released Activities Trailer for Saints Row 2 on YouTube.

Having watched it again I can only conclude that the folks over at Volition seem very confident about themselves. A bit too confident perhaps as they show no respect for Rockstar’s blockbuster hit Grand Theft Auto IV and attack it full force.

So what’s the deal? Well, many of the activities that can be done in Grand Theft Auto 4 are being ridiculed and attacked in the trailer for Saints Row 2. The typical GTA font is used when your are asked questions like ‘Would you rather go bowling or steal a sceptic tank truck and spray loads of sewage on pedestrians’. Yeah, that’s right. You can go steal a big truck filled with shit, ride around the city and at the same time treat your fellow inhabitants on loads of dung. How cool is that!?

Now, I come from a small village where cow dung is pretty much the number one export product, but I never had the possibility to drive a big car around filled with poop. Guess I have to wait to October then…

Other more spectacular activities include flying around, base jumping, streaking (!) and competing in illegal fights and demolition derbies.

So far Saints Row 2 is looking promising. Let’s hope it can compete with GTA’s brilliant gameplay.
