Ever wondered what would happen when the bloodthirsty world of Mortal Kombat should collide with the DC Comics universe?

Well, later this year you can witness the outcome for yourself when Midway releashes the latest installment in their Mortal Kombat series: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Comics! It will feature various modes, including the obvious one-on-one fights and a story mode that will have you controlling various characters from your chosen universe as you progress through the story.

According to Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon there will be approximately twenty to twenty-two fighters to choose from and the fighters confirmed so far are popular ones such as Batman and Superman from DC Comics and Sub-Zero and Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat series.

You can imagine that we’re very excited here at the office! Our comic expert Mark has already came up with several possible encounters. What about Wonder Woman versus Sonya Blade or the green skinned good guy Martian Manhunter who takes on the purely evil Reptile?! Or what do you think about Robin the Boy Wonder versus Mortal Kombat badass Shao Kahn?

Hahaha, Mark, personally I think that Robin doesn’t stand once chance in hell! Or what about an encounter between the chilling Mr. Freeze and Sub-Zero? Cool stuff! Let’s hope lesser known villians from the DC Comics universe like Mr. Mxyzptlk, Bizarro and Darkseid are going to be playable characters too.
