Four months ago we started this Book Collector blog. And for already four months this paperback A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose is in the top 5 of most popular books. Every week! Is it really that great?

I don’t know if this book is good. In fact: I don’t know anthing about this book. But now I found out why this book is so popular: Oprah Winfrey recommended this book in her show in january 2008! And I guess, when Oprah likes something, everybody likes it! So, although this book was first printed in 2005, this is still big in 2008.

A New Earth is a spiritual book, written by Eckhart Tolle, and it seems it’s one of the most influental spiritual books in history already. If all the stories are true this book ‘have already helped countless people throughout the world find inner peace and greater fulfillment in their lives.’ Eckhart Tolle says his philosophy, which includes Buddhist, Christian and Islamic influences, is ‘not like academic study with new information you have to absorb. Rather, it’s about uncovering what’s already in you, getting at that deeper level.’

I haven’t heard anthing about all of this in the Netherlands, I guess nobody translated and published the book over here. Maybe we will pick it up when Paul de Leeuw will recommend it.
