This book is just like the classic must-see movie The Towering Inferno and I just discovered the script of this book was actually used to create this movie! Wikipedia makes me smarter!
I stopped reading this book for a few weeks, not because it sucked, no, because I had to read some comic books (including these three great and beautifull harcovers!). But when I started reading the Glass Inferno again, I was also immediately hooked again.
Just imagine: being located in the top of a skyscraper when a huge fire starts messing up a few floors and elevators way down in the same building and the fire and smoke are on it’s way to the top of the building… Not a fire on the ground, but a fire in the middle of the building. Nowadays people will start thinking about the 9/11 drama immediately. But this book was published in 1974 and doesn’t have anything to do with modern terrorism. This book is about the fire, and all various views on the fire. From the people inside the building to the media, from the firemen to the people outside watching what’s going to happen.
What makes this book special were the pages about the fire itself. It was sometimes almost like the fire was one of the main characters and that’s unique. Well, I think it’s unique. I actually don’t read that much ![]()
